Hey guys i have a friend with a 1990 4th gen accord and his speedo doesnt work. Like just sits on 0.
I think it has worked for a few minutes every so often, but it is generally dead.
Everyone that we have talked to thought it was the speedo sensor, so he ended up getting a second hand one from some wrecker (eventhough it wasnt exactly the same as the orginal, but wrecker said it should work). So after a bit of fiddling around we put the new one in and the speedo worked for like 2 mins and then just went dead again.
My friend also said when he took off the original sensor and fiddled around abit (cleaning etc) and put it back on that the speedo worked for a few minutes then died again. (also after fiddling with the "new" sensor the speedo can sometimes also work for a few mins)
So yeah it doesnt seem to be the sensor.
what could it be?
(what i mean by sensor is the little box with wires and the rotating shaft thing connects into it.. in the sensor contains magnets which calculate the speed)
