i need to know the reading of the rpm when it is on idle??

Mine idles at 1100 ish, but I've got an angry cam, so I imagine if yours is that high something might be wrong.

Every car, regardless of it's engine should idle @ 650-850 RPM. 750 is optimal. If it's higher , crank it down big time as idling at 1200+ is going to start causing longevity issues. If an EFI motor, start checking the TPS for a start.

mine idles at about 2k....mines ****ed though and i dont know whats wrong with it...

not really....on most cars i have looked at it has the ideal idle speed for that car... usually summin like 850 +- 30rpm or to that description. in my mates cars its always underneath the bonnet (as in when you lift it up it will be on the actual bonnet, just underneath), havnt looked at mine coz i dont have a tacho...

Yeah right. Go check again. Min spec 650, max spec 850. STFU up if you have NFI and are just posting to make a point - and a dumbarse point at that. I've been working on cars for 28 years now and have owned, maintained, restored and modified over 20. So don't try and teach me how to suck eggs.
