Installing Boot Struts

This is the struts I ordered and used

NOTE: These were installed on a 8th gen civic hatchback.

1. Open the bonnet to the fully open position and remove the slam panel as per this guide

2. Remove engine bay fender trim by pulling up on the center pins from the locking tabs

3.Grease one off the bolts provided with the grease provided .

4. Grab one of the nuts that is provided

5. Get one of the fender support pieces and place in the spare hole that is in the fender and secure it with the nut provided.

NOTE: you will lose the wheel well air intake cowling that goes to the resonator

6. Using a 10mm socket undo the lower bonnet support bolt and attach the bonnet/hood support piece and secure with the same bolt

7. When securing the support apply force to the side so it doesn't turn when tightening the bolt

8. Install the strut on the fender side first ensuring the C-clip is removed and reinstalled correctly.

9. Apply a downward force on the strut to compress it a little

10. Lightly release and attach it to the bonnet support ensuring the C-clip is removed and reinstalled correctly.

11. Strut installed with the C-clip attached

12. Then you're done, test by slowly closing the bonnet and lifting it before closing.

NOTE: Any work done on the bonnet may cause a alignment issue with the bonnet, proceed with caution.
