A Yokohama World Time Attack (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?133210) stalwart and a veteran, the Prepd Motorsports Lotus has competed at every single event except in 2012 when it was relegated to the sidelines with transmission issues. Competing in the Pro Class the Prep’d team have notched up some impressive achievements including fastest Australian time back in 2010 with a time of 1.32.37 in the capable hands of Warren Luff.

In 2013 the car stopped the clock at 1.30.13 with Barton Mawer behind the wheel. But for 2014 it appears they may be getting a whole lot more serious.

“We have had to be careful what we changed on the car in the past as it was homologated for GT racing and was competing in the Australian GT series” said Prep’d boss Lachlan Cook,

“In the past we simply turned up the boost and put on some Advan A050 R Spec Tyres (http://www.yokohama.com.au/Tyres/ADVAN-A050-R-Spec.aspx) and went for it. But for 2014 the GT days are over so we will be running some proper aero, plus we have a fresh engine we are going to use. The goal is to be well into the high twenties”

“Barton will be handling the driving but I also want the car’s owner Angelo Lazarus to have a drive” said Cook “he has been sharing the driving with Barton at many recent sports car events and is very fast too these days.”

“He comes out to WTAC every year and loves the atmosphere so it is time he had a pedal. Who knows if we have a dream run and everyone else has problems we could make the podium but it is pretty unlikely.”

“The development of the current crop of cars has moved so far and to be fair we still have a race car not a time attack car. Regardless, this car has a bunch of fans that come out to see us every year and we can’t wait to turn it on”

The car still runs the original Toyota 2ZZ engine although now turbocharged and extensively modified to produce over 600hp in time attack trim and runs through a sequential 6 speed Hewland transmission.

“One thing we can pretty much bank on” laughed Cook “and that is I bet you we are the fastest Toyota engine at the event!” Somehow we think he may be right!
