Hi,

My gearbox shifting has seized up hard over the past couple of days. Now it's to the point where you have to be a bodybuilder to shift each gear. Neutral is ridiculously hard to find and it's really hard to slot into gear resulting in grinding sometimes.

I've just changed the transmission fluid and adjusted the clutch higher also. Hasn't helped with the issue at all. I'm suspecting it's the gearbox itself... what do you guys reckon?

same with engine off ?
Is it the actual shifter which is firm or is the "finding of gears" firm ?
Either way the box needs to be dropped and inspected

benjammin: went out to the car before and tried to get into gear when the car is off... still the same thing!

ECU-MAN : Yes I have a skunk2 short shifter

its because the short shifter bolt is tightened on too tight, loosen the short shifter bolt and bit and apply thread lock on the bolt.

also make sure all ur shifter bushes are greased if they are new.

You will want to hope your problem is what Type FN mentioned.

Short shifters can cause damage to the shift mechanism in the gearbox over time.

You're probably right... maybe the short shifter has caused damage to the gearbox =(

I would check bushing too. the one on the gearbox.
what i would do before taking the gearbox out is

there is a pin in there take it out, get yourself a screw driver slide it in their and try to shift. if it's hard to shift, take out the gearbox and inspect it.

So it only just started doing it? Anyone tamper with the shifter recently?

You dont have to remove bitch pin,

Remove the change change rod on other side to test. Slide it back and foward to check.

Update: Turns out the problem was with the shift gear linkage. 1 mechanic said to change the whole gearbox.

Lucky I sought another opinion... he made some adjustments to the linkage for me and it's all good now!

Thanks for all your help guys.
