October 22 marked Formula DRIFT Asia’s return to Australia at Sydney Motorsport Park for World Time Attack Challenge 2014.

Young Australian drifter Nick “Driftkid” Coulson secured second place for the weekend in the Team XFORCE Performance Exhaust (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43522) VE SS Drift Ute after qualifying in tenth for Sunday’s round of battles.

Sunday began with a morning qualifying session, where the Drift Ute was dialled in, before Driftkid’s first battle against Sheng Ng Nain piloting a Toyota JZX90 Chaser.

The Top 16 was a challenging duel against Alex Kantarovski in his Nissan Silvia S13, while for the Top 8 battles, Nick was pitted against fellow Queenslander Mick Roesenblatt and his V8-powered Nissan R32 Skyline.

Mick initially pulled car lengths on the Team XFORCE Performance Exhaust Drift Ute as they ascended the South Circuit hill, but continuous pressure from Driftkid forced him into a mistake, handing the win to Team XFORCE once again.

By the late afternoon, the Top 4 battles had arrived, and Nick was up against 4-time D1NZ champion, Gaz Whiter.

Not wanting a repeat of Top 8, he maintained a tight margin with Whiter, with precision emulation of the Nissan S14 in front of him. Straight to the finals he went.

It was Levi Clarke, another fellow Queenslander, who was between Driftkid and the win.

A hard battle was fought, but Clarke delivered a spectacular lead run against Driftkid driving aggressively, but cleanly, who was awarded with second place.

A special thanks to Team XFORCE for the awesome effort and for making everything happen.
