G'day guys

Having some issues with my spoon 1.5way clutch LSD in a s80 gearbox

Currently gearbox is mated to a b16a2 in an ek4,using all my previous gear that was on the s4c non lsd gearbox (driveshafts, midshaft etc etc)

Now,if I'm driving straight, car is fine, if I do a u turn, after when car straightens out, car feels weird, like the steering wheel just let loose and feels disconnected
While that's all happen, it makes a clunking noise, and whoever is standing outside can see the front wheels moving and shaking

It sounds like someone using a hammer and hitting something metal. Flyid type used is motul FF type2.
Midshaft has no play, axles:driveshafts have play pulling them in and out

It has really baffled me, is this a normal reaction with FWD clutch pack lsd's? As I drive pretty aggressive LSD on car at work and they don't clunk and knock at all

Any input or suggestion would be greatful

How long has it been since the diff fluid has been changed?

What condition was the LSD in when it was installed?

How long ago was it?

Meh, mine clunks like all hell. Slow speeds like roundabouts etc are really bad until the box warms up then it might clunk once or twice but you can feel it pulling as the plates slip. Great through the twisties however!

Some good info here - http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?180433-B-gearbox-LSD-questions/page2

The car has been off the road since the last few posts on there until Friday just gone and first real drive was today and it seems to be getting better still. Haven't changed or tried different oils yet either.

Dunno about the loose feeling. Mine feels very tight and solid just jerks and moves the steering wheel when the clunks happen. I would be interested to know what it looks and sounds like to someone standing on the corner!

Ohh it sounds hideous, sounds like my axle is gonna pop off, I threw the car up on the hoist yesterday, to me it looks like the passenger side or drivers side (I forgot, one with intermediate shaft) by looking at it, it seems it's not going in all the way on the mid shaft

If the driveshaft isn't clipped in on the drivers side it will make all sorts of grindy noises.
The mid shaft has to sit in as its mounted with 3 x bolts as well - what you saw was likely the seal cover popped out alittle...tap it back into place. Also disconnect your drivers side , pop it out and really firmly clunk it back into place.
Check your fluid level - have you added friction modifier ( if it's a clutch pack diff ?)

Hey worrys sorry about the late reply

I've always thought that the motul ff type 2 had friction modifiers already

I got some nulon G27 or something about 20mls, seems to be okay, just scary on full lock

Yep pretty normal, it feels horrible eh? This is why I never recommend clutch LSDs for street. It's a lot about oils. Play around and read some threads here as linked above.
