Had a look around the net for a rough idea of what id be looking at if i decide to start a project.
Saw these a while ago on ebay but thought id share it and hear your thoughts on them.

Looks like cheap and nasty knock-offs to me. Even the stitching on 'Recaro' looks crooked :P

Also take note of how the bottom of them is stitched/ held on with hog clips or whatever? That's a sign of fakes. Reals like above aren't clipped like that (the material being stretched and attached to the bottom with the ring things is what I mean)
I have heard bad things about their safety. The welds can snap, they can do nasty things. They also seem to be lighter than the real deal, too, which implies something is lacking.
The originals are safety approved for a reason. the fakes aren't for a reason.
I have some reps sitting in my shed, and after doing some more research, and looking at them a bit further, I decided it wasn't worth it, and I'm now buying a real one. Still gotta figure out what to do with my reps. Might make one into an office chair, and the other I'll sell
