hello folks
just wanted to say hello, my name is Adam and i live in Perth WA,
I have lived here for a while but am originally from the UK
i used to own a 2000 Integra Type R that i loved to bits it was that immacualte that i sold it to a chap who came all the way from Paris to collect it, sadly the idiot took it on a race tract 2 days after buying it and blew the engine, he must have been really driving it hard,... so sadly my beloved car was sold then killed.

In Australia i own a Honda City Pro T (non turbo) :( but it is a absolute hoot to own and drive, it has the hondamatic gear box that had 3 gears .... yes 3.. 4 if you count reverse lol and 5 if you count park lol
http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz215/Adam_83/P1150834_zpse62473f1.jpg
i have recently picked up this,
Accord 2003 Sedan 3.0 V6 vtec (but sadly Auto) i have some plans for it and want to head down the JDM road so a little lower a little nicer wheels, maybe a lip etc i am not sure yet,
need to get it 100% first before i start altering things so stripped it out and cleaned it like mad.

list of jobs i have done/need to do
1. Power steering whine -
i was sure the pump had gone as it was making a shocking row but.... a google search and a trip to Honda got me a $2 o'ring for the feed pipe on the pump and it was sorted, i am a moron and i managed to do it so if your handy with cars its the easiest fix ever.
2. Clean Clean Clean -
was owned by a mate with 4 kids and a dog so cleaned the hell out of it, took all the interior our and scrubbed with Dove soap (thank you google) and a nail brush and as it is PH neutral the soap will not dry the leather so came up like new as you can see,
3. Cambelt change -
can't be sure of the history so to be safe will change it. have been told the gear box was reconditioned 18 months ago so all is good in that department, touch wood (not fake dashboard wood lol)
4. AC not working -
now this is where i need a bit of help folks,
i have researched the hell out of this and cant get a definitive answer ..
My AC will turn on and work really well but as soon as it is up to temperature and the AC clutch disengages it never comes back on and the cold air stops, it will only come back on hours later when i start another journey i can't seem to figure out what is up with it as it work and then just stops blowing cold air, the air still flows at the correct speed but the air is no longer cold.
i have been told if could be:
1. Compressor Relay
2. TXV or something Thermostatic expansion valve in cabin
3. low gas - but it works so that should not be the issue
so i am lost,
i called a garage and they said it was a common electrical fault and would be easily fixed but where not forthcoming with any details of the fault and just said electrical, i kept pushing for answers but that was just met with' oh its a small electrical fault' which makes me feel i can fix it myself but..... i cant get a definitive answer on what it could be so any advice would be good please folks.
sorry for the massive message .... just wanted to get it all out there, introduce myself then see what you guys say in respect to problems plans etc.
Happy New Year to you all and hope to speak to you again soon
cheers folks

Nice one on the interior, in regards to your A/C problem...
I would check the function of the A/C pressure switch. Can be related to the following....
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
• Dual Function Pressure Switch (DFPS):
combines High Pressure Cut-Out
(HPCO) with Fan function or High Side
Low Pressure (HSLP) function
• HPCO: disables A/C compressor when
system pressure becomes excessively high
• Fan: energizes fan to supplement
condensor cooling
• Compressor cycling: controls A/C
compressor cycling to optimize vehicle
cooling
• Loss of charge: disables A/C compressor
when system pressure becomes too low
• High Side Low Pressure (HSLP): disables
compressor when system becomes too
low
If the switch IS working it could be cutting the system due to a few of the above reasons...

Hello mate did I speak to you on city turbo forum?
And thanks folks for the comments.
Just been to an ac place in perth and got quoted $2500 to $3000 to fix.... not happy with that at all. bit of a fob off I think but they tested the gas and all levels are good so that is a good sign.
So before big test the pressure valve I have found out the compressor works and the system gets cold but as soon as the compressor goes off the cold air stops . I think the compressor is staying on too long and then protecting itself and shutting the system down soon I'm thinking pressure valve or txv .... Would you agree?
Cheers again folks

Update on the Air con folks
Just had a really nice local business pop round to look at the accord and he has diagnosed that the issue is with the compressor clutch. All relays etc are working fine and the system cycles but then the clutch disengages and the cold stops. but......The signal to the clutch is active yet the clutch is not so bingo we have a fault.....
My question now.....
?? With the compressor clutch on an accord can the clutch be changed without degassing (if that's a word) the system or is It a job for a professional?
Now I know what the issue is I am full of unrealistic optimism of my mechanical abilities that I assure you are not as good as I think they are lol so before I make a mistake can anyone clarify if I need to degas the system
Cheers fellow honda nuts

I would say you need to de-gas it. need to take compressor out I'm pretty sure.
cheaper to change compressor and regas I would say. good seconds around.

Hello all
bit of an update, my quote of $3000 to fix my aircon ended up costing me $300
it was a faulty compressor clutch 'Coil' long story short i managed to take the pulley, clutch, and coil off without a degas and had the coil re wound and then popped it back on, with $140 for the rewind, $80 diagnostic fee and a box and a bit of beer for my mate, jobs a good un.... ac all up and running.
next job was detail and detail it well what do you think.

Another question folks sorry
I need a tow bar as have a tailer coming but not sure which one will fit do I need a specific towbar for my accord 3.0 V6 or will other model towbars fit? As I have found one from a scappers but it is on a newer model, same front but face lift rear and I am concerned that the underneath would be different, will it fit? The other model is a K24 so worried the exhaust may be different

Welcome Adam.
I've been out of the local shop scene for a while simply because I haven't had the need to buy parts but from my previous experiences:
AAA honda have been around for yonks and can help with a lot of your parts. Speak to Caroline or Dave.
Suspension: try Wilkinson Suspension in Bayswater, they've been around for years as well.
Tow Bar: I know it's a case of need but I personally wouldn't put a tow bar on that type of car. Don't buy it from a wrecker, have one put on by a reputable tow bar shop..

Hello Folks,
me again,
the advice was great thanks, i went to Malaga suspension and they did all they could for me and really did a good job, only downside is that the rear does not have a camber adjustment so i am driving with 2.75 degrees of negative camber on the back, looks like the car has been kicked in the nutts lol
now this is where you guys come in,
i assume in need an adjustable camber kit but..... do i need top and bottom? or would just the top do the job
i have read that they are from 0 to +3 degrees but to pull it straight would i need it to go -3 degrees if it is sitting at +3 on standard camber arms?
or do i just need the lower arm to pull the lower in?
does that make sense as my brain is letting me down.
any advice would be great.
cheers

You only need one arm to do the adjustments
one very strong arm

Hello folks,
Does any one know where i can get a lip like this?

cheers folks
shoot me email if you after the JDM 'Inspire' Modulo lip, is still available through Gaijin-Garage along with side-skirts..
but please note, the photo you posted has the JDM 'Inspire' lip on a USDM Accord.. if you look at the photo I have posted below (actual item) you will see the difference in USDM Bumper... so perhaps the owner has required some modification to fit the lip, either way it still looks badass. The JDM 'Inspire' bumper looks to be identical to yours so your AUSDM Accord Fitment should be perfect.

Shoot me an email if you are interested: bede@gaijin-garage.com
We have JDM 'Inspire' badges too... :)

hahaha thanks folks but joking aside....
the front is running great... it is just the back that is rocking a 3 degree negative camber,
so would in need top and bottom adjustable arms or just top or just bottom.
i was going to look in to eccentric bolts or bushed but dont think this will give the the correction.

HI Adam
Unfortunately none of us know what the suspension design of your car is (i.e double wishbone or macphherson struts)
There should be a pretty standard kit available

according to that i would guess its a Doule wishbone set up. you could maybe find an eccentric bolt to adjust the lower arm, or find an adjustable lower arm that has a turn buckle style. check the US forums they play with these cars more
