any other differences besides the obivous?
b16 tranny
- short ratio, fast acceleration
- lack top end

b18 tranny
- long ratios, good top end
- lack acceleraton
- got for Highways
- longer gearbox (as in size)

Has anyone fitted a jap spec LSD+ final drive kit to a b16 tranny? how does it feel/performace compared to a stock one.?

Vice versa ?

thanks.

longer? I'd say the casing size is the same for the b16a / b18c

ive heard that the b16a / b18c are pretty much the same FD etc ?

can anyone tell us for sure ?
I cant say that 200cc more worth of capacity always warrants "taller top speed" gearing .

the LSD would mainly depend on the axels and the countershaft i'd say.

lsd is actually a diff inside the gearbox where the drive shafts are. got nothing to do with hydro or cable. hydro and cable is how gears care changed. a few gen2 crx jspec with b16a cable clutch has lsd

I've used Both B16A and B18C (currently using ITR tranny) and by far the B16 tranny is better. It wasnt just a little bit slower. It was a LOT slower. It would fall out of VTEC from 1st to 2nd.

That is , using b16a + b16a tranny and b18c + ITR tranny ?

I think we need some one whom has used say a b16a tranny on a b18c and vice versa - anyone ?

that was with my B16A. I've tried all 3, and I would probalby rate them ITR, B16, B18C in that order. But depending on the track, a B16A box might be better suited.

have you tried b18c with b16a tranny?

nup but i'd imagine it would be better than the B18C tranny. As the B16A tranny has the same gear ratios and FD as a 96 spec ITR.

I'll see if I can dig up the gear ratios and FD's :)

what about....
how hard is it to mate an ITR box to a b16a or b18c block. Does it all bolt up with eaze?

the housing is the same and should bolt up with no problems
