Seriously? Is the average age for this forum 12 years old? Cause I thought I'd be conversating with mature Honda fans who are actually old enough to drive, not high school shits who are just going through puberty and have no friends so they come here and troll to get some attention

ignore him

it all comes down to what your budget is like and what you want. the ef8 is a light chassis, so you don't necessarily need the most 'powerful' motor so to speak

don't need turbo for such a light chassis

Even a B18C7 would rip in this chassis because it's so light and it's almost a straight drop in.

run a OBD0-1 conversion harness, rewire vtec solenoid wire and use the B18C dizzy with a dizzy conversion harness.

If you choose to run the B18C7 box you'll need to run a hydraulic to cable salve cylinder converter, hasport makes these.

Hi guys,

My name is Karl and I'm 32 year old Melbournian. When I finished year 12 back in 2000, I was only 17 but instead of partying all summer, I went to work so I can save up to buy an EF8 CRX. The dream was to VTEC it and be happy. Unfortunately 4 weeks into my job I was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent 2 1/2 years of chemo. Took me a while to recover but when I finally did, my cancer came back and I had a bone marrow transplant. Til today I'm still recovering from. Health is getting worse but my dream for that CRX is still well alive. I've had this dream for so long and am so passionate about it, that after 15 years it's still my dream car. I currently drive a 2010 Toyota Aurion Sportivo ZR6 (which I'm keeping) so this will be my project car. I'm going to see one this weekend which I will most likely buy.

A few questions please if you can help. Over the years, VTEC has evolved and so have engine builds. I would like your opinion on the best swap for my CRX

1) B18C2 Stock internals turbocharged
2) B18C2 forged internals, Skunk2 cams, rods, camshafts, intake manifold plus graders
3) B18C5/7
4) B20/B18c Franko

This build is 15 years in the making guys. Please help this poor mans dream come true!

fuark welcome m8

i rkn stock b18c7 would be best package, good all rounder
lsd, short gear ratios, good compression, good head from factory

If budget is small and your chasing power.

My reccomendation is B1C2 + Turbo.
1. I dosn't carry the Type R Tax,
2. The Gearbox ratios are long, good for turbo.
3. Turbo B series > NA K20
4. The cost of getting a K20 in there and running, you couldve done the whole car with that much money or be close to.
5. It does have true vtec as well.

150kw K20 crx will dust 200kw c2 turbo and will have a much more enjoyable power delivery and powerband

Op what's your realistic budget?

Please explain.

How does a 200KW motor loose to a 150KW motor?
Not trolling, is dere something I missed in year 12 physics?

Just because one engine has a higher number than another doesn't mean it's necessarily going to be better.

Power/torque delivery and gearing.

Hmm we are comparing TURBO to NA rite.... an engine with much more power/torque vs na 2.0L? I wouldve just assumed the power would come even more earlier in the turbo. Unlike the NA which won't be effective till tek comes online?

Sure the 6 speed box will have its advantages, but nothing a TURBO (power) cannot make up for.

Just because one engine has a higher number than another doesn't mean it's necessarily going to be better.

Yes it does, last time I checked the higher the number the more energy is generated to move the vechile foward.

Vvvtec

I've driven both, and will always go for a K engine. Personal preference, not trying to force it upon anyone. Just my $0.02, a kswap crx will be much more exciting than a Bturbo.

I'd suggest keeping it NA. Go for the B18C7 OR a build a c2, depending on what your gut tells you

go turbo if you want to build a super monster...

I'm sure it was in qld a few years ago. Owned by a guy with a white cefiro and used to have huge chrome wheels.

Thanks Super-DA9.

I've been having a look at some b18Rs and some k20s. Found a k20 with 110,000ks for $2500 but no box, no loom, ecu etc. Gearbox I found 2 one for $1400 and one for $2800. I haven't really put a budget on the car, but wouldn't wanna spend more than 5k on a complete conversion minus ecu (hondata all the way).
