EK1 Disc Brake Rotors and Pads

Hi Guys,

I got and installed some new springs for my ek1 and I am now looking at upgrading the brakes.

I have three different options:

1. Just upgrading the front pads.
2. Upgrading front rotors and pads.
3. Upgrading rear drum brakes to disc brakes, upgrading front rotors and pads.

Obviously the first option is cheaper and the third the most expensive. I'm probably looking at the second option but not sure where to get the rotors and pads (besides eBay).

I am still looking into the Pads so any recommendations would be great. For upgrading the rear drum to discs I have no idea how that would work and how much it would cost.

If you only daily drive and never track then just get some more aggressive pads and dot 4 fluid

you shouldnt need huge rotors and calipers unless racing

Rotors: I find RDA/EBC slotted rotors are great value - just remember that rotors are a consumable (esp when tracking). I replace mine every year ~5-6 track sprints (Mallala).

Pads: QFM A1RM are great value and performance for a street and part time track car. Can get them from GSL Motorsport. Ferodo DS2500 another great option - more $$$ though

Fluid: Use something rated to 600deg (F), such as Motul RBF600, 660, TRW Grand Prix 600 or Elf equiv. About ~$35

Don't worry too much about the drums so long as you have plenty of pad/shoe material. These can be upgraded later if you feel the need, the above will give you a trackable setup.
