View Full Version : Need advice on engine change

Hi guys,
I have a Honda Civic Gli 1993 4 door and I have just bought a Honda civic DX 1996 2 door to do and engine and gearbox swap. But i was questioned about is it possible? If anyone has any experience or ideas on this would good.

Anything is possible. But why would you want to do this?

The engine in my Honda Civic Gli is using a heap of oil, most liking needs new rings which I'm not interested in doing and thought it would be easier if I just put in a whole new engine for a cheaper price. As well a bearing needs replacing in the gearbox and it was going to cost me $700 to fix and so i reckon i'll change the gearbox as well

Ok. In that case should pretty much just drop in. If they're both d series engine with EFI you can just swap em.

its not "just drop in"

different engine harness, different sensors, different ecu.

you'll find you cannot simply 'swap them over'

the ecu, sensors and engine harness are all different
