Hey OzHonda,
I'm curious to know something about a DC2 Type R.
For a while now, I have been noticing my friends Integra makes a strange but unique whistle noise around 2000-3500 rpm. It always seems to do and I noticed a lot of other DC2R's do it too.
Does anyone know why?

generally it's the air intake side. Usually an aftermarket intake - short ram , replacement filter etc....
Honda puts a lot of research and money into making the intake as quiet as possible - hence the big snorkel and resonance chamber on the intake standard. When you alter or remove it , you get these funny noises. Also look at a crack or break in the intake arm post air filter - it might open under load giving a whistle

prelude does it too
depending on what pitch you are hearing the whistle, in my bb5 i used to get a semi loud whistle that would be there from 2000-2500 rpm
when i changed the same intake over to my bb6, it wouldnt make a noise

I've heard my car do it sometimes. It doesn't seem loud because my exhaust masks it.

yeah i could hear it on the bb6 because the exhaust was quiet, had a tanabe hyper medallion on mine which was more quieter than the magnaflow muffler on my stock exhaust on the bb5 lolwut

My friend has a Mugen CAI. Could hear it with the stock intake too.

its a air leak, spary some soapy water and look for bubbling sounds.

I've got the Mugen intake on my DC2R, give it half-throttle and you'll have the whistle
