I think you might need a braked trailer if you are towing something of that weight on your Accord, I think your user manual will advise you of the limits of the car :)

oh shit, does that mean that the kennards hire enclosed trailer full with furniture etc of a mates was too heavy for my car?

haha, i had to tow it 200kms and i used a full tank of petrol. it sat on the speed limit but i think the wind resistance really got to it above 100kph. the trailer was a full metre or more higher than the car!!!

not sure what it weighed but damn i could feel it!!! thats even with a h22a!!

i reckon the load would have been at least 700kg.

Anything over 300kg on an Accord would probably have to be braked

Having said that I've towed many cars with my wagon with just a rope without too much of a hassle, but trailers are generally a bit more difficult

My mate has a Toyota Corolla 1.8lt and he even tows a 300Kg Jetski...

That should mean no problems for me at all :D

You'll tow it easily.

You can legally tow up to 500 kg (some cars up to 750 kg) without a braked trailer.

Most boat trailers are braked anyhow.

You'll probably find that the legal max load (braked) for your car and towbar is 1200 kg.

I have a Euro and I've used it to tow pallets of phone books -- 7-800 kg -- without any problems. A towbar is a common part of my life (for all sorts of reasons).

If towing 500 kg were a problem, you wouldn't be able to put a towbar on your car! And towing a 500 kg trailer is easier and much lighter than towing a car! (which in SA is now illegal to do with a rope -- you need a trailer to tow a car)

Anyone who suggests that you won't be able to tow a small boat doesn't do much or any towing.

That said, driving with a trailer is obviously different to fanging your car around the back blocks, so don't expect to go like a bat out of hell. You'll find the most sluggish part is just moving off. Once you're going, there's not a right lot of grunt needed -- unless, as in the example above, you're towing a huge wind-resistant trailer and trying to go at 100 km/h.

Just drive normally and you won't have any issues.

legal speed with a trailer is 80 anyways lol but who does 80??

i wont say how fast i was going with a cherry picker on the back of the work truck lol but was more than 100
