The 43rd holding of the Nürburgring 24 Hours took place during the weekend of 16 and 17 May on a circuit combining the Formula 1 track and the northern look, with a field of 100 or so. At arrival an Audi R8 took the win, but Motul-supported team Nissan GT Academy RJN finished brilliantly in the top 10, bagging 9th place. This testifies to the efforts made by team Nismo to be at the highest level. Nissan #35 started however from 31st position because of a penalty, but managed to progressively push forward.
‘We had a very straightforward race,’ stated team boss Bob Neville. ‘After the initial single stints, the driver all did doubles and didn’t put a foot wrong. The car ran like clockwork and it is always good to be able to say that it didn’t need any repairs during the race!’
Among the other teams supported by Motul, Subaru Tecnica International came eighteenth, winning in its category, this win rewarding a perfect race. Indeed, after bagging pole position at the qualifyings, team STI managed to keep the lead throughout the 24 Hours, never being passed by a car of the same category.
After eight consecutive participations and two class wins in 2011 and 2012, 2015 will go down as a decisive edition for the team which, by finish 18th in the overall standings, gave its finest performance and beat its personal record by completing 143 laps.
