Hi guys,
Looking at buying a 2010 fn2 privately.
The car has been recalled but has not been serviced for the civic type r engine room wiring harness.
Not sure if this is related to the problem it has with the break lights. The centre and side night light works but the break lights don't (when pressed or not)
I opened up the panel and the left has a plastic cap and no bulb and harness at all!! The right has everything and the bulb hasn't blown out.
Looking for any suggestions and possible costs to rectify the issue.

I'm not sure i understand you gibberish
What areas to you expect to light up? And what's this got to do with the civic type R engine room wiring harness? What does the recall fix?

Product description
09-10M Honda Civic Type R
Identifying features
Campaign number: 5HM
Target number: 2041
Identification plate number: 37199
VIN range: SHHFN2360AU100161 to SHHFN2360AU100325
What are the hazards?
The wire harness sheath may be damaged and in the worst case cause a short circuit, potentially causing the right head light, front fog light, position light or brake light not to operate or the horn to fail to sound.
What are the defects?
The wire harness was not routed in the correct location.
That's the recall problem. This is leading me to believe it may be a related issue.
At the moment, the two rear break lights do not work at all and one is missing the harness and bulb and has been capped off with plastic.

At the moment, the two rear break lights do not work at all and one is missing the harness and bulb and has been capped off with plastic.
The red light housings on the boot lid are tail light only.
The right hand side has a T20 bulb in it which is for the rear foglight.
Since honda use the same units all over the world for the civic hatch.
They just remove the plastic for the side where the bulb is going to go.
So on a LHD car, the bulb goes on the left and there is a plastic cap on the right tail light unit and vise versa
There are only 3 brake lights on our civics.
Left and Right next to blinkers and the center high mount LED one which only lights up half way.
As for the recall. you can ask honda,
Just ring them up and give them the VIN number.

Thanks for the response grayfox.
I just youtubed a video whilst I was there and it didn't match the below vid.

That's what is concerning me. Are you saying that when pressing the brake lights only the centre light turns brighter and not the rear position lights?
Might need to go for another inspection.

The civic has had 2 facelifts in its time.
The 2006-2007 models had the full perspex "Trophy Cabinet" style grill
http://i48.tinypic.com/4orr6.jpg
And the rear had 5 brake lights in total and 2 rear foglights which were on the center housing, they are located between the reverse and the H badge

From 2008-2010
The grill had 2 slots in it(if you have a type R, you have the type R grill)

And the rear in terms of lighting for all models, the foglight is located on the drivers side in the boot tail light housing

Also this picture from a 2006 model shows the brake lights and the central fog lights as well has the 50% lit central brake which can be modded if you are skilled in electrics

Most people suffer from limp issues. Hardness is quite uncommon
