The first event of the Motul-partnered Volkswagen Polo Cup took place on 18 April in Moscow on the tarmac of the Moscow Olympic Roving Channel and Cycle Track. Yuriy Arshanksy, one of the participants in the Russian and Baltic country championships, proved to be the fastest on the track in his first participation in this championship. He was followed by Andrey Vavilin and Dmitry Sokolov, respectively second and third. Six contenders out of eight reached the arrival of this event that compromised eight stages totallying 69.5km.
Round two took place a month later on 23 May in the region of Pskov, on the gravel track of Pushkinkiye Gori. This time Ilya Lotvinov, the driver from Saint-Petersburg, was the fastest, while Denis Rostilov bagged second place and Yuriy Arshanskiy third. Nine contenders out of ten starting this event reached the arrival.
