Same here...I want to have one done to hook up with the car door. I am still trying to findout whether I can get below JDM Honda Access neon.
Found the seller for it. Still undecided at this stage, tried to findout whether it would be easy to install with my Vi. It would be either coming from the seller or I will try to pull a favor to get someone go in Honda shop to get it and ship to me from Japan.

the one from Honda Access meant to be on when you unlock your car via remote control or when the door opened. It will dim off later, similar like most of the car has little side light on their door panel.
I would prefer to get this from Honda Access instead of put hole to my door panel and stick aftermarket light to it......Would agree this could be just add on cosmetic for interior ;) .......

Assuming your chassis is -Ve, all you need is a positive wire to run the neon(s), and connect the negative terminal on the neon(s) to the chassis of your car (assuming the neon(s) are 12V DC, which they will be). You can put a simple switch into the positive wire to turn them on/off, or run more complex circuits to fade / dance / pulse or... whatever.
You can get said positive wire from anywhere, even run directly from the battery. Make CERTAIN you use a fuse, or you'll fully_screw something and / or have a campfire in your car.
You can't use them all the time - they're illegal, annoying, distracting, and will indeed ruin your night vision.
I would suggest getting somebody who knows EXACTLY what they are doing to help you. Car electrics are very simply, but trial and error isn't an option.
Good luck.
N.B. If you can find the wire to switch on your headlights connecting them in would be easy. Finding this wire (it'd have to be after the headlight relay, not just tacked onto the wires in the steering column) wouldn't be fun, and refer above for other reasons not to do this.

hi,
i got them in my crv, would post pics up but...too lazy. anyways, it's pretty simple, if you have those cigarette lighter plug ones:
- decide where you want it, and get a neon the right length. you don't want one too long, doesn't make too much difference, brightness would be more affected by thickness of tube.
- remove the center console (for the crv, it involved removing lower compartment, glove box, driver's side panel (under steering wheel) and finally the center dash console. note: every model will be different, especially non-Hondas.
- you should have access to the ashtray and cigarette lighter. unplug cigarette lighter, find screws to remove assembly from main console. before you pull it out, disconnect the electrical plug connecting it to the battery.
-now, this step is the important one. there's no going back. again, check CAREFULLY which wires go where. i can't remember exactly, but the green and yellow wire will be the ground, the one with a stripe is the positive and the remaining one is the negative. two of the wires from the neon should be double insulated together, but needs to be seperated a short length.
-simply snip the corresponding wires (best to do this one wire at a time) and reconnect with neon wire hooked up, all with a simple screw-in plastic wire connector you can get from tandy.
-if you so desire (VERY good idea) fit a switch to the neon circuit. measure accurately how long to leave the wires between the cigarette lighter, switch and neon. this will depend on where you want the switch. the switch will have "acc"(accessory), "pwr"(power) and "gnd"(ground). again, cut wires and reconnect with switch in middle. you might want to solder it in, not necessary, depends on how much time you have. otherwise, secure with maybe some electrical tape or something similar.
-test to see if it works. if so, FANTASTIC, if not, you may have connected the wrong wires together. best to do some research about circuits, most wires will be standardised in colour.
-simply refit cigarette lighter, and panels in reverse order. last step should be to attach neon using included adhesive pads. keep wires behind the panels using more tape. make sure not to clip panels on top of wires.
this is only a rough guide. if in doubt at any stage, seek professional help. and try to plan out ahead what steps you're doing. after all that, i also have to say, do not drive with neons on, it reflects off the side windows and windscreen and causes blind spots. leave it for show and have fun!

yeah u'd want an easily accessable switch for em in case of booze buses, 'routine stops' or getting pulled over for speeing (i know ppl that have got defects for neons in all 3 situations lol  )

i did have a piss easy lil explanation of how to hook up neons, but it gone now. I have mine hooked up to my door switch and a manual swtich. They are blue, tucked up under the dash in the footwells.
I dont find it a hinderence at night, u can see a blue glow around the windshield where the dark tint is but thats about it and u get used to it. No probs after 6 or 7 months.
