Design me a b series gearbox

I'm too cheap to buy a mint S80 type r box but I wanna make the most of my b18c2.

In my fantasy land I imagine finding a worn out b16 box, an aftermarket 4.7 final drive and viscous LSD then spend a year slowly rebuilding it.

Please tell if this is a) a stupid idea, b) waste of time, or c) all of the above, or d) tell me a better plan/config to acquire or build a sweet low ratio LSD b series box.

That seems like another thing that I probably should know.
An LSD box advertised as "good condition" here regularly advertises for $1500. But I'm not wanting to risk it. Rather but one I know is rooted and rebuild it to my specs.

If your worried about buying a rooted box, why dont you just rebuild yours? With LSD and Better Final Drive?

Cost you 1.5k - 2k anyway and you will know its headache free product.

I would just find a rooted b16 box and build that. May cost you extra but your own box may get you some dollars back to equal out.

I think that's a good way to go. The eg is my only car at the moment, so I can't afford to have it off the road for long, hence not upgrading this box.

get a dead gsi or vtir box

buy a 4.9 final drive, lsd of your choice, master rebuild kit and go banananananananananananas

Yeah. That seems to be best 2 options. Rebuild a itr box or frank one together... Dunno if aftermarket LSD would be much better than the type r. Anyone know if the s80 LSD wears out and needs rebuild too?
