Pum[Z] has an Ingen CAI too... You can ask him for advice..

Bascially, it's not a hard kit to install, the instructions are clearly written for you and you can save yourself labour costs this way..

I'm not sure how similar/different is the Injen unit compared to my K&N CAI but when I did mine, the only real problem I had was removing the OEM resonator that sits behind the front bumper and in the wheel guard, due to it's size, it is a bit hard to remove it out of the wheel guard and also, you need to nudge here and there to get the front of the OEM intake out...

It's an absolute cinch to install and a no brainer really.

As EuroAccord13 said, the only hard part is removing the resonator from the stock intake. I ended up undoing the single screw retaining the bumper to the fender and carefully unclipped the corner of the bumper from under the headlight just enough to get my arm in with a 10mm socket/ratchet-ring spanner. If you don't have foglights you should be able to undo this bolt by laying under the car and reaching up.

If you follow the vague and marginally helpful Injen instructions it was shipped with, plus;

The K&N Typhoon instructions here:

And this TSX owner's "Do It Yourself" walk-through:

Youll be fine.

Good Luck and you'll love it!!!!!

Why not do a DIY with pics and a review IF you decide to DIY. :)

The benefit of DIY is you can learn so much along the way.
If you want to let the shop do it for you. Make sure they have experience on Euro or similar, Coz I heard too many case of snapping plastic clips or plastic bolts here and there while they remove parts out (sometimes they force things out).
If you have done a bit of DIY before, then I think you know your Euro better than most of the fitters (unless they are Honda service tech or have vast experience on Hondas)

so what is it exactly that you guys love about the CAI. Is it just the induction noise, or is there a noticible increase in power?

stephen8512
14-04-2005, 08:54 PM
both., injen CAI is dyno proven, and it sounds awesome. the increase in power is more than compared to other brands

Pum[Z]

The Throaty noise in the beginning and when it hits 6000 rpms the screaming noise up to redline...

Injen are dyno proven products so to say... Also it looks nice in the engine bay...

I agree.. The InJen looks sexy.. Now all we need is for yfin *hint hint* to get the CompTech Icebox for the Euro and we'll have all the three big name CAI in the Euro Owners League :D

EURO R, don't forget to post up the outcome of your CAI unit here when you are done :D

Just got back from my mechanic's place. Anyway in the TSX owner's DIY, for "Step 20: Attach the EVAP vent to the intake tube using the two screw clamps and the provided tube."

my injen didnt come with the 2 screw clamps and the provided tube.
Outta curiousity, does yours come with it?
i have to get a hose and 2 clamps from a auto shop and finish it up tmrw.

The provided tube is the little piece of aluminimum tube that was included with the Injen kit. I've highlighted what I think you're talking about below. Unfortunately the position of the EVAP chamber is such that the two spring clamps are inadequate. I've since replaced those with ring clamps. It's only there for US C.A.R.B emissions compliance.

If you don't have the small section of hose with Injen printed on it that connects the intake to the EVAP chamber you may have an older intake. That should have a longer length of rubber hose that you run straight from the intake, to the crank case vent (the small section of hose comming from the engine being held in the first pic)

Claimed to increase the peak output by 11hp on the 5AT TSX Injen did their test on.

ok cool, then there would be no point in spending another 600 bucks for the mugen to just get and extra 4hp.

You will get less power out of the Mugen - it is almost identical in design to the Icebox.

yup, i do have the longer hose, i've seen pictures of the setup.
but from what i see, the hose is too small to be a direct fit onto the intake.
