In splendid weather and a temperature of 28°C, the Paul Ricard circuit hosted the third round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, on 21 June. Among the 61 cars that took the start, Motul provided its technical support to team Nissan GT Academy, which gave a particularly brilliant race. The battle was very fierce among the lead cars. Buncombe, Reip and Chiyo's Nissan took advantage of a penalised contender to get ahead, but intervention by the safety car made it lose this lead, which led to an all-out sprint to the arrival. At the arrival, the two lead cars were separated by a mere 8 seconds, so imagine the fierceness of the rivalry during the 6 hour long race! It's the first win for this team in Pro category, which led Alex Buncombe to say: 'We have been trying for some time to bag the win, so it's particularly satisfying to clinch it at the end of this 6 hour race. We enjoyed an ideal weekend, with incident-free pit stops. It's a fantastic result!'
For the same team, Motul also supported the Nissan contending in Pro Am, but technical problems made it fall back while battling for the podium against the BMW Z4 of another Motul team, Thiriet by TDS Racing, which also suffered misfortune due to a collision in the 70th lap that forced it to quit.
After a test day on 24 June in Spa, the 24 Hours of Spa is the next event of the Blancpain Endurance Series, from 21 to 26 July.
