Fuel Light

Can someone please tell me if the fuel light is meant to come on for a bit when you turn on your car just to show you that the light works.

my light is weird it goes on and off then on and then off and then on then off then finally when it gets close to empty it stays on and thats when i know i have to fill up.

Is this when you just turn your car on and all the gauge lights come on to show you that they work. For example all my other lights like SRS, seatbelt, oil etc come on for a brief moment then go off EXCEPT my fuel light.

the reason your light flashes on then off etc is because it is nearly empty, the fuel is sloshing around in the tank going up or down a hill, so it moves away from the sender and then toward it, therefore thinking its empty when going up a hill and nearly empty when going down

When the fuel light stays on = fill up in the next 5 kms

It should only come on when ur car is on E

are you sure because the manual says all the lights are meant to come on just to show you that they work then they go off.

this is important to me because I ran out of petrol and I dont remeber the fuel light come on I think I have a damage circuit but I wont know untill I run out of petrol again. lol

well Im pretty sure that the petrol one dosnt come on but when I start my car next Ill have a look. But Im pretty sure It doesnt come on cause Ive never seen it unless im running low on fuel

Mine doesnt come on when i start. I thought it would come on when i was low on petrol but i hav been driving around before witht the needle on empty and there is no light, i have a civic coupe if that helps??
