Yes. I believe the globes cost a fair bit.
Have you tried one of our traders?
Maybe they can get an aftermarket one in at a lesser price.

Good luck with it.

$300 for a globe!?! and would you need to get two and replace both or one will be more intense than the other?

I lost a set of keys (but found them again) and they quoted around $150 for the key and $320 for the remote to unlock the car and boot! ... Hondas great prices

You will need to replace them both at the same time otherwise the colour WILL be different.

5zigen have just released replacement xenon globes. Check out their site as I think it has prices too

check ur manual to find the size of the globe. most shops/internet traders etc will not refund or exchange car goods.
the size of the globe may also be stamped on the broken globe itself, in small writing.

called up a certain honda stealership last year for a customer for ONE factory replacement HID bulb, they wanted $480

give SRS (www.srsauto.com (http://www.srsauto.com)) a call, i know they can do an aftermarket replacement bulb for ALOT less than what honda charges. ;)

as long as for the FACTORY HID BULB REPLACEMENT, there are two types,
D2S and D2R, D2R is for reflector housing and D2S is for projector housing.

i am pretty sure S2k has projector headlights,, so when you are shopping for your replacement bulbs, ask them for D2S because if you get a wrong one, you wil have different light output patterns...

also, those replacement bulbs for AFTERMARKET HID kit may not fit on to FACTORY HID.... because they have different connectors! :)
good luck with your shopping!

us ebay is also a good place for find decent goods... give them a try~

the s2k is d2s bulbs go for the oem ones or try and get your hands on some philips 4300k bulbs, just make sure you don't get some dodgy branded ones.

Does anyone know the temp of the factory HID globes in the S2K? Are they 4300K or higher? Are the same temp globes used in the Euro?

Thanks.

If the car is under warranty, then it should be covered, Else Aftermarket HID bulbs are rebased therefore can't fit unless you modify the wiring to suit. Aftermarket HID bulbs aren't readily available and the quality is also not as good as OEM. I would go and buy the HID bulb from Honda parts.

I should have some 8000k HID globes available in about 1-2 weeks. They are a direct replacement of the standard bulbs. D2S. $300

oh yeh, FYI.. HID bulbs take about 50Hrs of use to break them in, to get to their brightest..

oh yeh, FYI.. HID bulbs take about 50Hrs of use to break them in, to get to their brightest..

Actually its the reverse... when u buy HID bulbs.. especially the oem ones.. e.g. d2s for projectors and d2r for reflectors.. for examply if they are 4300k when u first buy them they will be 4300k after 50hrs+ it will shift to a higher temp (K) around 4800K. The amount of lumens will also reduce as the K gets higher. Thats one of the problems with high K, they dont produce as much lumens ( usable light) as lower K.
OEM HID equipted cars e.g. Altezas, BMW, Mercs, Audis, Porches ALL use d2s bulbs with temps. of around 4300K. Thats why they are bright and at the same time white.

The quality of the bulbs you get with kits are nothing compared to OEM d2s bulbs. they may look ricey and cool with their 6000K - 12000K blue colour but they do not perform nearly as good as true oem d2s bulbs.
Just compare the light output from a oem hid equipt car and one with a HID kit and you will see the diff..

The quality of the bulbs and the ballast determins the quality of the HID unit.
Phillips d2s or Osrams are the best bulbs to get.
Ballasts brands like: Hella gen2 or gen 3, Denso ballast, Matshushita ballast,Osram ballast, bosch

PIAA are now in the HID scene as well with their new d2s and d2r bulbs. But they are still new in the HID scene, so id stick to one of the above bulb brand.

Hope this helps clear up some stuff of HIDs.
