hi guys im about to purchase a rebuilt b18c7 that only has the intake manifold and timing belt and a P73 (obd2a) ecu. will everything from my 92 b16a2 transfer over including the b16 engine loom which is also obd2a. things such as vtec solenoid, dizzy, aircon etc. i think the b16 headers might be too short. any help would be appreciated

The wiring should be plug and play I would think, provided it's definitely OBD2. You will need a B18C header, throttle body, intake and if you're using the stock exhaust on your (I'm assuming) civic(?) you may want to think about using a larger diameter system.

There might be a few other bits and pieces I can't think of right now.. But if you're currently running with a B16A2 OBD2 system then it should be pretty straight forward.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Tun again.

VTEC Solenoid, Dizzy and AC compressor will fit.

ok i made the mistake of thinking my del sol is a obd2a when it is infact obd1. so my problem is i have a bare bones b18c7 with obd2a ecu. i think i will transfer everything that i can over and run-in the rebuilt c7 with the b16a ecu until i find something that will run it.

I wouldn't recommend using a B16 ECU on a B18C... Was the engine built with high performance parts or OEM bits? If it's built differently to stock you'll need it tuned regardless. In which case you should get it run-in and tuned on a dyno straight off the bat.

It's rebuilt with just stock parts.

Been doing a huge amount of research for this. On one U.S. Site it says that although the engine loom has to be specific for the dizzy, alternator etc. the cabin loom side of the engine harness is backwards compatible??? I can use a obd1 engine harness but use a obd2a harness from the strut towers to the ecu and use a obd2a ecu. Can anyone confirm this is true with the Aussie engines?

You can use the OBDI engine harness and connect it to the OBDIIA cabin harness. OBDIIA ECU will then run fine assuming you have delt with the immobiliser

Do not use a B16A ECU it will run the engine lean. Lean mixtures damage engines

DelSol OBDI engine harness may differ from Integra B18C2 Engine harness, check the MAP sensor location.

Thanks for the info. I won't need to use my b16a now that I know the obd2a cabin loom can be used. If the ecu is an Aus spec with immobiliser it looks like I'll be off to your place to get rid of it.

I have edited my above post to read Do not use the B16a2 ECU, not B16A2 MAP..

What car are you putting this stuff into ? what era (year)

the car is a 1992 del sol crx. i dont know if you remember me but i came to your joint with neil in our eks to get keys cut sometime last year lol

Ah yeah I remember you :)

If the B18C7 is going into the CRX then just remove the B16A2, take the engine loom of the B16A2 put it on the B18C7, put the dizzy from the B16A2 on the B18C and put the B18C in the CRX.

you will come across an issue with the MAP as the 92 CRX has it mounted on the firewall (check and confirm this) so it is wired to the cabin loom (which will remain the same). You have to plum this MAP to the intake manifold of the B18C and just leave the B18C MAP on the TB disconnected.

The 92 CRX has OBDI ECU connectors so if you plan on using the B18C7 P73 ECU you will also need an OBDI to OBDIIA conversion harness.

Dont really wanna hijack and revive an older thread but ive got a question that runs along the same sorta principles but with 1 thing changed. Ive also gotten a b18c motor but im running a b16a head on it. My question is, ive got a socketed p28 ecu with a reflashable epproms running a spoon program (will get adjusted once its all back together) and i will be running the b16a (gen 2, OBD2a) head on the b18 block, running b18 cams (slightly better specs) but the block is OBD1. Can i swap over the right sensors so i can run the obd2a wiring loom (havent got the obd1 loom) and then use the obd2a - obd1 harness so it all plugs back up??
