Hi guys,
Im planning on building an ls vtec dc2. I already have a b18b2 engine out of a 99' gsi dc4 and i want to put it into a shell of a gsi or vtir. I want to put a b16 head but need some info on how much itll cost and. What parts ill need. My goal is for it to be faster than a stock dc2r
Thanks,

Pro Tip: Just buy a dc2r.
Sure LS vtec is a cheap alternative. Thats if your doing all the work including building your own motor.
Since you have asked a question like you have, Imma assume you cannot do this yourself.
Pro Tip 2- K24 conversion.
Will probs cost you around the same if anything little cheaper if things go your way, but be a better platform.

My dad is a mechanic so all that work he can do. All im really paying for i think is the parts and tune. I also like the idea of the non type rs having sunroof and sound deadening :/ seems more comfortable for a daily

Its gonna be waaaaay cheaper to buy a DC2R than the hassles of reshelling a new shell with a built motor.
Think about all the blue slip hassles etc etc.
DC2R cheap as dirt these days. Cos they all have been treated like dirt by their P plater owners. (sure given like 5 examples I've seen personally are exempt from that statement)

Parts arent cheap buddy...
Also its not only the engine that's special in the type R.
Letme see where to Start........
Gearbox - 4.7FD
Alloy control arms
Thicker shift rods
Sussy setup
Brakes
list can keep on going.
Its gonna cost alot for a DC4 chassis to be a Type R.

If you buy a VTiR with B18c2.
You can just get the Type R gearbox can call it a day. Sunroof and all.
Power difference in between the B18c2 and c7 isn't much.

Ya man if you have the parts.
I'd def go VTiR. You still will be able to find one clean owned by a family guy.

would not bother, just turbo it. Serious, OBD1 with chip $150, Chinese manifold = $300, small turbo probably the most expensive thing, depending on which type. Waste of money trying for NA gains, better spent money on K swap or DC2R.

For what its worth I found 1 owner GSi with less than 70k clicks on the clock for $5000... Grandma spec... engine fresh... If you were going to go that route. Not much cash, fresh engine ready for bolt on turbo, if something blows up then replace the whole thing.
