Hey guys,

I just bought this car a few days ago. I'm already having problems. The car was fine during the test drive, and all day today it was okay (I only drove it for 10 minutes each way).

However, yesterday, the call shut off while I was driving numerous times. Sometimes, it would take a few minutes for it to start up again.

I researched this issue online and it seems like the problem is the ignition switch. Part: 35130-S0A-003.

I'm new to Queensland (new to Australia actually). The dealer wants $111 for just the ignition switch... I can replace it myself.

Where can I get the best price on this part? Is this the right part? Anyone chime in?

Thanks.

Call a different dealer and ask if it has been changed due to the recall on the ignition switch using your vin number

Hi,

They said all recalls have been done on the car. I'll call around different dealers I suppose and try to get the best price through them. Surely there must be other sources to get these types of parts though?

Well I'd call other dealers to check the recall, don't tell them initially it's faulty as they will just tell you it's been done... Unless you ask for verification... But yeah maybe try repco or something too? Or wreckers?

Investigate the main fuel relay for a failure / bad soldering / etc

Refer to this thread to give you an idea of its location http://techauto.awardspace.com/mainrelaydefine.html

^^ Thanks, Ill check that out too. I'm first going to see if my ignition switch looks damaged, if not, I'm thinking its the fuel relay.

It's not usually this, early model 5th gen preludes had a recall for ignition switch problems

^^ You never know. I'm hoping its not that though, because it sort of looks like a PITA. My plan is to check out the switch and take it from there.

Definitely a problem with ignition switch. I had the same with my 5th gen.

I went to Hanny's, in NSW mind you and they fixed the issue for $200. Never saw a starting or random turn off issue again.

Try find other shops locally that may specialise in Honda's besides Honda themselves.

Alot of Hondas from that vintage had ignition switch issues
Try googling the part online and get it from ebay/amayama.com/amazon
