Hi All

Just recently bought a used Euro 2006 Lux, have couple of questions looking for answers from you guys, i will go for a major service with that vehicle. i am on budget and cannot go for OEM parts, looking for cheap but quality after market parts, hence need guidance

Issue 1:
PS pump has great leak, fluid is all over the pump, i could rebuild but thought fit a new one, bought one from ebay

Issue 2:
Will replace serpentine belt, which belt shall i buy from Ebay, Bosch, gates or any other brand good belt? do i need to replace tension er pully as well, i have seen its rattling a bit

Issue 3:
Which after market fuel filter to buy?

Issue 4:
during driving a low speed breaking battery light on dash comes on for a second and goes out, this is intermittent. checked battery voltage 12.8V (engine Shut) and charging voltage from alternator is also good (13.8V), what would be the reason. how to simulate the problem?

Issue 5:
shall i go to dealer with all the parts and pay them the labor or go for a Honda specialist? looking for an economic solution, any recommended Honda specialist in Sydney?

Thanks guys for your kind input.

2. Any belt is fine as long as it fits the car. No need for tensioner replacement unless it's causing you trouble

3. Whatever on ebay. I used a ebay one. Silverline I think it was called.

4. Check battery grounds... otherwise it's probably the alternator regulator. Common failure point.

5. Avoid dealers.

For honda in sydney go to Hanny's at Smithfield

Out of interest, called a dealer and asked about service quote, i said all part will be supplied by me, they have to charge the labor and fluid

here what they said (waiting to rip me off :zip:)

PS pump replacement + serpentine belt replacement $350
PS system flush + new fluid $150
fuel filter replacement $150

I have that same issue too, even after replacing the alternator and a new Supercharge Gold battery. Although it's not as frequent now.

I just replaced my serpentine belt with a Gates one, but it might be a bit too loose (7PK1753) - I think it should be a 7PK1750. I bought it from Amazon (using an Acura TSX 2007 model as my "Garage car") along with a Gates belt tensioner (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CHMMJS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02) - you'll save about $50-$70 buying the belt tensioner from Amazon, not so much for the belt.

Nope. Go to an independent.

PS pump and belt is like a 1/2 hr job.

I did fuel filter myself, took 1 hr for a non-professional.

I took a quote from Hanny's and top one auto
They don't wanna put aftermarket fuel filter....they are saying they put it before in other customer's car and it leaked out, they want oem filter to replace
how hard to change the filter ? i am a backyard enthusiastic and did lots of thing with my poor old 95 accord, provided that cannot uplift the car with jack, anything on the ground level i am confident
cheers guys

No need to lift car up. You do it from the boot.

Thanks mate, appreciate ur advise

i went to Hanny's for PS replacement. Robert is saying never ever touch the valves, i am confused

does euro's require valve adjustments? i bought the car at 151K and dont know if the valves were adjusted before

fairplay

Yes they need adjustments. If in doubt, check! At 151k I'd definitely check. Heck, i checked mine at 40k - All within tolerance of course.
