Hey Guys.
I've done everything I can but this issue has beaten me.
The AC on my 2004 Oddy has been sketchy ever since I bought it in 2008. When I say "sketchy", I mean it used to work semi-reliably unless it was a scorching hot day, until recently when it stopped working altogether.
Initially I thought it was the gas. So I took it to a Honda dealer recommended Auto Elec. They refilled it and it worked reliably for a while. Less than a year later it would cut out when it was needed most.
I then thought it might be a drive belt issue because it was squealing and the power steering was also fading at times. If I flicked the gear into neutral and pumped the revs, most times the AC would run cold again. After servicing the drive belt was eliminated.
A month ago it stopped working completely. I took it to another Auto Elec and he re-gassed it because the gas was almost out. After finishing it still wasn't working and we noted that the clutch on the compressor wasn't engaging. He told me the compressor was shot and I was going to have to replace it.
Humouring my car I turned on the AC a few days later and the comp clicked on, and cold air was running again, BUT, only through the passenger side vents. HELP ME JESUS!
All the fuses are good. The gas is good. The compressor is working albeit intermittently. What on earth is wrong?
Could it be a climate control sensor? Or could it be the solenoids in the clutch?
I hope you can help. I could drop a grand on parts and still not have it fixed. My faith in auto elecs has gone. Especially since the last one is a mate who can literally fix anything in record time.
