Hi there,
I notice Racer industries sells Takata harness, they are listed as distributor on the Takata official website.

http://www.racerindustries.com.au/afawcs0161690/CATID=38/ID=12731/SID=665608171/Takata-Race-4-4pt-ASM-Harness.html

https://www.takataracing.com/dealers

one thing bothers me is that they are really cheap compare to other places.

$390 instead of $600 most places sell.
http://www.jdmyard.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=247_248

I am not sure if they are genuine, emailed them and they said its genuine direct from Japan.

If anyone know anything about them, please let me know.

Thank you.

The Takata harnesses that Racer Industries sell are the newer European made items (I suspect they're made by or with some assistance from Schroth, as the hardware that came with my Race 6 Takata was in a Schroth labelled bag, and their straps and latches have some similarities, also their site says those style Takata harnesses are made in Germany: https://www.takataracing.com/). The older style MPH341 and MPH341W that JDMyard have listed on their site don't seem as common any more, or at least no longer actively marketed outside Japan? May explain the price difference.

Racer Industries have the MPH341 listed at a similar price to JDMyard: http://www.racerindustries.com.au/afawcs0161690/CATID=38/ID=14386/SID=654023079/Takata-MPH-341-Harness-Green.html

the MPH341 has both 3" lap and shoulder belts.
according to Takata themselves, 2" lap belt is a better option, that is why the newer one has 2" lap with 3" shoulder.

chargeR, so you think Racer Industries Takata harness is genuine ?

I hope so, otherwise I'm in trouble if I crash, as I bought mine from Racer Industries. Personally the cost for the MPH341 4 point is just ridiculously high, the prices Racer Industries list the new style Takatas for is perfectly reasonable. Just compare them to prices for Schroth for example, another high end harness ie. This harness from Schroth is similar spec to the Takata I bought and similar price: http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/index.php?PCID=21980&PSO=245&PSID=9320*12000&PSV=Primary&CDO=

I had a 3" Takata MPH341 in my old car. I find the 2" lap straps to be much better fitting and more comfortable than the 3", and the new design shoulder strap adjusters are easier to tighten and release. The latch mechanism itself seems very similar and worked well on both.

I wanted 4 main features in my harness:
- 6 point
- 2" lap straps
- Black in colour
- 2 adjusters on the lap straps, to make it easier to tighten them when seated in the car

The Takata was among the most economical options.

Racer industries sell proper race gear, not tarted up street cred shit.

If they sell Takatas, I would say they are the real deal.

If you want harnesses for safety, then pretty much anything RI sell will do the job. I have a couple of sets of Schroths from them, and they are the ducks nuts. If you want street cred, then buy whatever looks good.

edit: the 2"lap / 3"shoulder seems to be the best option, and is what Schroth recommend too. Mine are 3" all round, and TBH I reckon the 2" lap would be a better fit. Apparently safer too, as they sit lower and hold you better than the 3"(neither are anywhere near breaking load in any survivable accident)
