I've noticed with my gearbox moving the shifter from the neutral 3/4 gate across to the left, 1/2 gate I feel the normal spring pressure, but if I go to the right, into the 5/R gate there seems to be a "detent" (not sure if that's the correct term) I need to push through.
Is that normal?
Car is being built still so I haven't driven it yet, or any S80 equipped car for that matter so maybe it doesn't feel as bad in use, but I can only imagine how hard it will make a quick change from 4th to 5th.
As the car will be tracked this is important to me, and I was wondering if the detent can be removed just leaving equal spring pressure either way.

Possible or dreamin?

While there's no detent per se, there is an elaborate spring mechanism that can burr a bracket and cause notchy left-right movement. When you send the box down I'll check the whole mechanism over and make sure it shifts correctly.

Was good to chat yesterday Sam, the 'box is on it's way and I'll be very interested to hear what you find....
