Hello all,
This is my first time here so please be kind!
I have a Mazda Civic Hybrid (I think 2009).
Just yesterday I noticed that I could hear sloshing of water behind the dash plus a 'brushing' sound when turning corners, especially when the air conditioning is switched on (it is markedly louder the second this is switched on). Also the car smells a little mildewy.
This may or may not be a coincidence, but on Saturday night I was driving in torrential rain for approximately an hour. The car is not driven that often in rain, and is stored in an inside garage, so this may have been the most rain it has copped for some time.
I will get this checked, but can anyone give me any idea of what this might be?
Thanks

Check your incabin filter, its behind the glove box, that could be the culprit for the smelly aircon.

^ this.
For true though check the cabin filter, it will be blocked.
Check your local bursons, SCA, repco, autopro etc for A/C antibacterial spray to deal with the mould smell. As for the sloshing well that needs further diagnosis

The smell is mild and to be honest the least of my worries.
The sloshing water is the big one. Why can I hear water close to the dashboard? What liquid is stored near there?

There is coolant from the heater and that's it really... Unless the drain tube is blocked then there will b water building up too

No liquid is stored in your dash. You have water (or coolant?) stuck in the air flow circuit somewhere...
A guess is that you have a blockage inside the fan or fan intake , and perhaps water can't escape from the air con waste pipe or just in general. Do you park under trees ? Soil/ leaves / gumnuts etc can block up your cars insides.
Another thought about the water noise - you might have a air bubble inside your heater system , and you can simply hear the water sloshing around the heater core or inlet and outlet hoses as air bubbles circulate. If your coolant hasn't been changed since new or recently topped up you might need to change it or atleast "burp" the air out of the system.

Drink bottle in glove box?
+12/10 will read again
Or something in a storage bin under seat or side of door etc
Id say high chance this is the issue - I too had a noise in my car - took it to the dealer - turns out it was a poo bag dispenser sitting in the under seat storage which I had no idea existed FML
