I have a 2003 Honda Accord Euro, Automatic and its done 208,000 kilometers.
My fuel economy has gone from 9 to 12 liters per 100k to 14 to 17 liters per 100k
So far I have changed spark plugs and changed Auto tranny fluid, and changed engine oil and filter.
What I anticipate doing but haven't done yet is, change fuel filter, and maybe get the main drive belt looked at. Also the main drive belt idler bearing.
The reason I am looking at the belt, its looking a little "blue" in the middle of the belt and its left a tell tale line of something on the bonnet soundproofing

Can anybody suggest anything else I could look at, that may be affecting fuel consumption.
Or; I have been considering buying a later model Euro and passing my CL9 down the line.

Anything unusual in the running of the car (noise, vibration, etc...)?
Mechanics should be able to work out faulty components through the obd2 port (such as oxygen sensor).

^^^ O2 sensors generally dont throw a CEL.
Unfortunaly over time they just go bad, sometimes it's as easy as build up on the sensor stopping the sensor reading correctly but really they need to be replaced.

Thanks for all the replies guys. 02 sensor, it is.
What about that belt, is that ok.
The idler bearing on the main belt, do they ever go bad ???

In what way would that effect your fuel economy

If the idler bearing was "shot" wouldn't there be more resistance on the belt, hence worse fuel economy. ???

No. If the ideler bearing was "shot" you would not be concerned with fuel economy as the person discharging a firearm at you is more of a pressing issue.

If you are concerned about the ideler then by all means replace it but it won't be the source of your fuel economy issue. There are really two sensors that control the mixture and those are MAP and the O2, MAP sensors in Hondas are rairly an issue and are generally reliable at throwing codes in my experiance, the O2 however sits in the exhaust getting covered by spent combustion gasses and these over time build up and cause the read to be inaccurate, or other times stuff doesn't work the way it's ment too and brakes or is just generally shit.

Thanks for all the advice.
I will start with getting the o2 sensor looked at.

Did u get o2 bro ? i think i can help community to get some at decent price. They are like 90-100 bucks in EU, almost twice cheaper than OZ stealership asks for it

No I didn't get it fixed.
I decided I can get a HUGE amount of fuel for the cost that the local Honda stealership wanted for replacing the O2 sensor.

I purchased cabin filters for my CL9 from the USA, that were supposed to be the correct ones. They weren't. So I dont like the idea of buying a O2 sensor from anywhere OS. Lesson learned.

USA has it for 135 bucks or so. Denso off ebay works just fine.

And its a bad idea to run like that. U r running too rich, this will kill er sparks and converter and youll pay much more for that.
