View Full Version : ek dy16 turbo help (computer questions)

Hi, so i have been collecting bits for my turbo project and i have hit a road block,, im really confused with how to run a different computer, apparently the ek has some odd version of computer and it requires some crazy amount of work to convert it, I know a reasonable amount about cares bit wiring and all this OBD stuff just blows me away.. any info would be awesome and i have googled alot but still dont get it,, is there any shops in brisbane that can do a conversion like this with the computer,,, thanks alot

cant use d16 ecu

need standalone

link or some old school shit would be best bet

Yeah its a lot to take in at first..

Do u have the d16y4? If so u need a stand alone.its the black she of the d16's.

The reason is because of the 3 wire IACV.

Stand alone ecu was run by an old member on here.took a HUGE effort by 20 or so professionals and they vowed never to do it again!

d16 turbo ftw mate! Way to go!!

afc neo is the best one I believe.

Also John (ecu man) AND LEGEND said to me about the y4:


"If you want to go OBDI, you will need to change the distributor, engine loom, and IACV (which may mean intake manifold), a lot of work."

Yup sounds like u have the y4 engine after reading your first post again.

I have the same engine,10 yrs now.

U will almost double the power with turbo + piggy back ecu and tune.

Cant go wrong with that mate.The piggy back ecu is fuel tuning only,it won't change the timing like a stand alone and that's where u get greater gains.

But who cares! Power WILL be doubled.

ok cool... theres alot involved with these stupid d16y4 motors...wish they didnt have this black sheep ecu... ill get it sorted soon..thanks for the help
