Hi Guys,

First post.

Have a 99 EK Hatch with a non functioning speedo which I just found out about 45 mins ago.

Had a read over this forum and some others and it seems to be an issue with the PCB or solder joints, some info was from some older posts from nearly a decade ago.

Some info:

99 EK Manual
Layout as follows TEMP | SPEEDO | FUEL
I've always had some issues with temp it never really indicated temp until about 30 mins into a drive and would always beat midpoint, never have overheated the car, so its hard to tell if correct, or even indicated 0 on colder nights. Now it is about 1/4 of the way up on start.
Speedo always worked fine until tonight
Fuel has always been working correctly
Just hit 200K km

Just wanted to know before I go and take the cluster out and get the pcb reflowed, if anyone else had any other ideas about what it could be? Anything else along the electrics? Harness etc?

Also, any one in Sydney who specialises in this repair? When I had an S13 there was a guy in SA who specialised in the repair of the HUD, hopefully someone who is in Syd as it is a daily driver.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that ECU, symptoms all pointing to VSS.

Checked it out earlier, removed the VSS as per the guide, and physically inspected the wiring, the VSS unit and the harness, gave the connectors a clean and also cleaned the o2 connector while i was there.

Didn't have a meter handy so I couldn't test, but after I replaced the unit, making sure to slot it in to make sure the gears meshed and then turned it so that the bolt holes aligned.

Seems to be working fine but ordered a new one just in case.

Hope this helps.
