I replaced my tensioner pulley about 6 months. Within a couple of months, there is a rattle. The rattle only happens when the car is in gear when stopped (at the lights for instance). It doesn't happen all the time.

I used a gates tensioner, and gates belt (I think it was 7PK1750, but now 100% sure).

This shows my belt tension.

It's a 2004 Accord.

help?

I am assuming when you replaced the tensioner pulley, you replaced the tensioner assembly with the pulley.
Is the rattle from this pulley? Has it been tighten (torqued) properly?
The belt is 7PK1755.

7PK1750 is what I have, it's too short, as it's meant to be for the 2.0 litre engine, mechanic's mistake.

And it'll kill your tension-er and/or ps pump eventually.

Are you sure?

The Gates part search specifies that the 7PK1750 is the correct belt?

Seems to match with the Honda part 38920RBBE01

If memory serves me right the 7PK1750 is interchangeable with 38920-RBB-E02, with is the part number for the CR-V belt. the accord euro belt is 5mm longer i think

then again, ive no clue how much difference 5mm actually makes, if any, but it did kill my tensioner.

EDIT, i just went and had a look at my tensioner, my 7PK1750 (dayco), after 4 years of stretch on the car it's still sitting on the EDGE of the "too tight" range/indicator, imagine how tight it wouldve been new!

edit2, for all who're interested, the OEM belt is 69 inches, which is 1753mm rounded to nearest mm

edit3, just saw op's pic, looks like the belt is loose. hmm..... how old is that belt?

Doesn't really matter with regards to your belt because your image of the tensioner shows that it is extended (pointing to the shorter indicator). So your belt is somehow too long. If you bought your car used, can you check if you have any underdrive pulleys installed?

A belt that is too short will show the tensioner pointing to the taller indicator. A belt that is too long will have it pointing to the shorter indicator. If when your engine is running and you see your tensioner bouncing about the indicators, then the tensioner is worn.

For anyone who finds this post on Google - I was using the 7PK1760 belt (which is listed for the Euro in the Gates catalogue). Turns out the Euro needs the 7PK1750. I've put the right belt on, and the rattle has completely disappeared.
