Hey everyone, first post. After some help.

I serviced my wifes 2006 Honda Jazz the other night and noticed some leaking fluid under the engine. It's an automatic L15A. Would it be CVT transmission fluid? Anything to worry about? CVT transmission fluid levels are good and was replaced 20,000km ago. It's just ticked over 190,000km.

Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

Its a good idea to clean the area and re-observe. Maybe spray with some brake cleaner and wipe down with a piece of rag.
By cleaning it up you can tell easier where the leaks come from.

It may not be a leak as it could be a dribble (which wasn't cleaned) from previous oil change.

Yep, I've wiped it down. It's not near the sump plug or oil filter. It seems like it's closer to the transmission. Just wondering what's under that shield plate. Might have to take it off and have a look.

Is it transmission fluid or oil?

Get a torch and check your driveshaft seals.Clean and re-check.

If ok,it's your rear main seal.

A rear main seal is engine oil leak. They go hard and therefore leak a bit always. They dont completely F*ck out like a crank pulley seal.

So no rush to change it.Just top the oil up from time to time.

Wipe it down before rego check.

As as I originally said before - in reference to this , jack up your car place it on jack stands and take off the lower cover and see if the fluid is coming from that area. It will collect in and around the inner face of that cover.
