Hi guys,

My Navigation screen froze on boot up today and is stuck on the Navigation Home screen, where usually it will get to the OK screen which then allows access to all the radio/ AC controls etc
Anyone had this issue or know a fix?

Thanks

Well by turning off the car it restarts but still frozen on that home screen. I can't get access to the interface to manually turn it off and on if that's what u mean?

I was thinking more along the lines of pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery. Still power going to it when you turn the ignition off.

It's just unfrozen. Weird.

Next time it does that I'll try disconnect power like you said.

Not sure what the issue was but hopefully it doesn't return.

Thanks for the suggestions SafteyCar

The sat nav home screen has frozen for good now. It just loops through the home screen every 60 seconds.

I have disconnected the neg on the battery and drained system juice and it hasn't fixed the problem.

Not sure if anyone else has an idea? Or who i could take it to?

Could remove it, pull the board(s) and check for bad solder joints and/or burnt out components. Other than that, not sure, possibly easier to get a replacement from the wreckers?

Don't really like fiddling with boards, i'm not really tech minded like that. What about an auto elec?

Sorry if you have already tried this but have you tried pressing Map, Menu, and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds? (ignition on)

Yeah tried that but didn't do anything..

I've noticed the problem seems to be with the DVD rom, when the screen works the DVD rom lights are on and when the screen is "looping" or frozen the DVD rom lights are all off.

I've read it could be a temperature sensor inside the DVD rom. Which would make sense because the screen sporadically comes back on for a short turn every now and then

Can you remove the DVD or is it stuck?

I can remove the dvd. Makes no difference though

This is starting to sound expensive and time consuming. You might be better off biting the bullet and swap out the entire screen / dvd unit. That way your only have to deal with plug-in stuff, not mystery analysis of parts you can't test unless you pull the whole thing apart.

You could of course install a much cheaper standard audio / aircon console, and use a stand alone sat nav.

I wonder if copying the dvd to a compact flash card and sticking that into the pc-card slot would work
