Is it normal for an S2000 to burn through 4 litres of engine oil in 3000kms?

My oil light came on today and I checked the sump and it's way below minimum safe level. I've had a look under the car to see if it was leaking oil but didn't find anything. I've heard vtec engines burn a little bit of oil as they operate but is the amount I've described normal?

I've garaged the car and I'm going to get more oil tomorrow. I wanted to ask if there's anything else I should be checking to see if anything needs replacing.

Thanks heaps guys.

Are you sure you have lost 4L? Doesn't sound right. .unless there is a leak..

When there's only a bit of oil on the bottom of the dipstick,my d16y4 takes about 1L.

You always lose more in summer with the hotter temps.

You were right, it wasn't 4L, I refilled the sump and it took 2L.

Ah great,I would just keep an eye out for leaks..probably is just evaporation though.

Most likely your valve guides are bad and it's burning a lot of oil. Well known problem on the S2000.

u mad?
