Hi guys, my DC5 is making a really annoying whining noise. Ive done a bit of research and think it may be the power steering pump, but im not 100% sure.
For reference, this is what it sounds like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhbLNv2KY_Y (skip to 1:15) . This isnt my car in the video, but it sounds the same as this.
Anyone have any ideas what needs to be fixed or have experienced this before? Any help is appreciated, thanks

Either ps/alternator/air con just remove belts one at a time and see if the noise persists.
If it does more than likely it's the idler tensioner pulley or water pump or serpentine belt if ya got one.
You can buy a automotive stethoscope for 5 bucks off eBay to pin point the source of the noise OR take it to a reputable mechanic.

Sounds like a power steering air leak where there is air being sucked into the pump due to one of the lines o-ring having perished. Common problem on some models - MDX in particular. Small part just need to undo the line and replace the little o-ring. Normally cost a couple of dollars from Honda. If you go to some places they'll want to replace the pump which is unlikely to have failed, do the o-ring first.

Sounds like timing chain to me. Its hard to diagnose sounds over the net. Best to see a tech.

dc5 had the same issue, honda now makes the o ring out of a different compound.
