Hey Guys, my mind is currently melting with info on d-series gearbox ratios. the problem is that most information is in the US.

Do any of you know the ratios (specifically) final drive of the australian D-series gearboxes and the cars they were fitted to factory ADM.

looking at cars from 1987-00

This is for a d series race car it is not being converted.

Regards Marc

Yes if someone has a link to a list that would be great,I am yet to find one.

I can share with the d16 that the y8 has a slightly better FD than the y4 but it's negligible. The d16y4 gearbox with the lower/better gear ratios has B00000 stamped next to the vss (vehicle speed sensor, where you pour transmission fluid in).The other y4 is stamped A00000.

Do you know the final drive of the Y8? and what car it is normally in? i could make a y4-y8 hybrid. but i need to know actual numbers.

the y8 4.2 would be a decent improvement on my 3.8 ill check it out.. if anyone else does have any more light please do share!

im quite confident i currently have
1st 3.250
2nd 1.894
3rd 1.259
4th 0.937
5th 0.771
R 3.153
fin 3.880

So if i was to swap the 4.25 final from a y8 i think id be getting a decent improvement similar to the VTI box.

I am cable clutch fitted to ED6 so cant run the y8 box complete, but dont see the benifit in running the y8 gear set anyhow unless im missing something?

I do see i could have a slightly shorter 2-3-4 but the difference is marginal.

If you're running a L3 cable box I would be surprised if the final drive from a later model would suit. Best bet is to look for a ZC JDM box and use that gearset with your 4.25 FD in your ED box. This is what I had in my ED6 with D16Y1.

If you look back through my ED6 build thread from about 6 or so years ago there are a few posts about the hybrid box I put together
