I have just purchased a set of rims..... the rims fit perfectly for the rear.... yet for the front, the rims are touching the calipers.... the seller told that he would fit a spacer on the hub so the rims dont touch the calipers.... i like the rims but wondering anyone know anything about this spacer or not.... the seller said that the spacer is not the loose type, fixed on the hub..... my worry is, is this spacer thing safe???? has anyone encountered this problem before or fitted the spacer???? i need your advice guys.... thanx heaps
If the spacer is pushing your rims out more than usual.
I think its illegal.
Can someone confirm this?

check with the dept of transport / rta (whatever they call it down there) or a decent wheel and tyre place will know if they are legal

Quote from NSW RTA, again check with the local authorities on their rules...
'the fitment of wheel spacers (or adaptors for dual wheel conversion) between the wheel mounting face and the road wheel is not permitted unless fitted as original equipment by the vehicle manufacturer'.

*sigh*..... dun wanna think about the cops man.... they pull anyone they like anyway for watever reasons... depending on the moods.... some of good are good but if u meet the bad ones, they ll come up with every possible excuse just to get u, to show authority.... thats wat they do there..... worse than the cops in asia......

think first, then post.
adding wheel spacers is completely different to changing rims, tints and that sort of thing. kind of like chopping springs.

um no they cant cause cops are stupid, unless a cop is into cars he has to prove in court that the mod was illegal, but if you have engineers certificate just wait till he writes up the ticket and say to him/her 'didn't you want to see this?' :) GOLD
if they say 'why didn't you tell us?' you say 'you didn't ask so i thought i'd waste your time because your wasting mine' :) GOLD again
obviously you don't know your rights so i'd get some information about what you can and can't do to a car (and every car is different) and get educated :)
im not trying to be a smart arse, but you seem the type that will ask a silly question and say but why can't i do it?
I'm 33 and have owned cars from rotary's to v8's and i have had my share of cops being dickheads, but i knew how to put them in their place as i knew that my mods were legal and they didn't know their own job.
just for laughs i'll tell you a little story...
I got pulled over by a toyota camry wagon (yes wagon, undercover) and they said to me we were following you back there through the shopping centre streets and clocked you doing 70+k's in a 60k zone. so i said where's the radar? they didnt have one. me 1 them 0.
then one of them proceeded to look over my cordia turbo and i went to look at their car, the other cop was stuck in the middle and didnt know what to say. if they want to look at mine i'll look at theirs :)
they could not do sh!t cause there was nothing illegal done to my car that they could pick. but it helps when you got an uncle thats senior SGT and lives close by :)
they can't even look in your car, under your bonnet or in the boot UNLESS they suspect you are carrying drugs or something illegal or you get arrested. other than that you can tell them to jump of a cliff. its like them coming into your PRIVATE property and if you dont want them there you can ask them to step onto the foot path. they cant say no or you can have them up for trespassing. you as a citizen have more rights IF YOUR IN THE RIGHT than any cop on this planet, just depends what country you live it :)
anyway my fingers are getting tired, but i can tell people more wonderful stories :)

And where is that statistic from sir?
And where is that statistic from sir?
from my 10 friends who got rims donw there.. 9 had spacers.. the fact is, the clients dont know, and they dont care, before when someone pics out some rims, all they care about is the sale!!
the funniest was my mate, his care was just written off in a T-bone accident. he wasnt at fault but he wanted his rims. he went to the salveage yard to change them with his stockies. alas he couldnt get the stockies on. puzzeled, he called up tempe who said 'mate, we prolly put spacers on ur car, just take em off'. 10 mintues later he was on his way home with this rims...
to this day, my friend doesnt know that spacers are illegal. hell liverpool exhaust doesnt know that bov's are illegal.
DOESNT MEAN ITS RIGHT, but i rekon ud have to be extremly unlucky to get defected/denied insurance claim for it..
