sleeve overs only
save your money and get the proper coilovers not some junk someone on ebay wants to get rid of, saying that i have no personal experience with those things and i beleive that no one else in australia would either.

does the sleeveovers make any different?? will it make your car lower and adjust it?? this may look stupid?
how much would you expect ot pay for a set of coilovers and for a set of sleeveovers?, do you need to do any mods to the struts?
i was just thinkin of gettin these springs..., will i need to buy anything else?

you guys would have to refer your questions to your local suspension shop as i'm not into suspension. im in car audio :D
but my way of thinking is if your going to do something DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, not the second or the third :)

They are coilover sleeves and I would avoid them like the plague. Yes they can lower your car but they are poor quality springs, the threads strip easily, and they blow stock shocks as they can lower your car up to 4 inches.
Save your $$ and buy a decent setup - they aint it!
Raz
If you're gona keep your car for a while, then get proper coil-overs.
Those sleeves reduce the life of your stock shocks. So, unless you're willing to keep changing your shocks every god-knows-how-often, then don't get it.
Besides, with real coilies, you get the best of handling and quality a real colies can provide.
how much would you expect those to set you back?
I'd say budget yourself between 1000 (2nd hand prolli) to 2000 to get a decent set of coilies.
Get Koni I say. They are available for the 5th Gen, have a local distributor, so if anything happens to the coilies (regassing, etc.) you get local support.
But, ultimately, it's up to you. Your money, your car! :)

Dropzones are apparently "teh suckage"
http://board.hondasociety.com/showthread.php?t=108874&highlight=dropzone
dropzone coilovers suck in ride quality, i had them for a total of a week couldn't stand it looked like i had a low rider, i was bouncing every where dont do it, save the extra bucks and get a real set of coilovers
My boy has a set on his civic, ride quality sucks so bad, its really low but the ride quality just blows - definetly not worth it.
Dropzone is crap, spend the money and get something decent at least.
Seems just like any other crappy product out there.

They are $1300 NZ for cd accords.
Raz

Not exactly sure - but I can't find anyone bagging them. I did a quick search on some of the US Honda boards and only good things are said.

does anyone know about spring clamps, and the legality in victoria? if they are safe to be used in everyday travel and how they perforn at highspeeds i.e. on the freeway or at a drag strip. and one opposing them? reviews etc would be appreciated. thanks
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=102559&item=4544206285&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V
there is absolutely no way i would be driving around on those things, and i very much doubt they are legal
they are illegal and very unsafe for road use, or driving at all for that matter. stick to coilovers

I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole...
if there is one piece of advice i can offer when it comes to suspension it is this. Have a good think about exactly what you need, and do it right the first time regardless of whether it costs a little more than you'd like.
It is far, far better to get it right the first time than stuff around removing and changing suspension components...and often spending a little more at the beginning will cost you less in the long run if you try out various other combinations

i've got a set of espelir springs front and back for 94-97 accord, imported from japan new and unused for sale if anyones interested :D
how much and where are you located? can i get a model number? cheers
Check the Marketplace SV4.
And give Suspension City in North Melbourne for a quote concerning your springs changed.
SV4, if you are at all mechanically inclined i suggest reading up on how to change them yourself...will save you $ now and in the long run and its not all that hard (in fact its only difficult when you have a stubborn bolt to remove!)

LoL... Yes, stubborn bolts and cheap tools make it a long and expensive job.
If you do it yourself, invest in a GOOD set of allen keys (At least $20 for the set - lifetime warranty helps), a breaker bar, a nice socket set (not supercheap stuff). Jackstands, Trolley jack and maybe some spanners too.
You *should* use spring compressors to get the stock springs out, but i tend not to use mine anymore (great for scaring non-mechanically inclined friends - undo the top bolt of the strut slowly and make it out to be a big scary thing, then yell "BANG!" and watch your friends crap their pants!)
But poid, when i added up all the tools etc i had bought it wouldnt be worth it for a once-off job. I have done at least 3 suspension changes since then, so i've gotten my money's worth...
lol yeh i've pulled mine out about 10 times ;)
But the thing is, with the trolley jack, jackstands, and the other common tools, you will use those for other job if you decide to work on the car in any case...so investing in all of those instead of labour for the springs def works out in the long run
but if you do it yourself, don't you haveto worry about alignment issues etc?
You can always send it in for alignment after you've done the install. :)
exactly, alignment is done afterwards for $30-50
hehe, well i really have nfi how to change my suspension and knowing me i'll probs stuff it up, so i recon my best bet is to take it to pedders or something similar anywayz
i would suggest going with a reputable suspension specialist, or if your mechanic is willing to do it thats also a reasonably safe bet...usually Pedders arent all that good
yea there pretty expensive as well $300 they quoted me. i got a dude from my other car club that quoted me $100 for an install and 4walignment

i'm really close to picking up a set of coilovers as well - what should i expect to pay for coilover + camber kit install + wheel alignment, ideas anyone?
$100 is quite a decent price incl. a wheel alignment, you should take that
coilover install is the same as a spring install, and camber kit install usually isnt difficult. I'd expect you should be able to have it done for 150-200

where can u get coil overs???? in australia not ebay usa
dundas
03-05-2005, 01:40 AM
call up ur local car enthusiast/performance shop...Or just ask a few of the traders on this forum, they will guide u the right way.
though "proper" coilovers cost anywhere between $1500- god knows wat/
if u think about it they save u time and hassle (if installing yourself) and also you are getting decent struts. Struts (shockers) cost MINIMUM (base models) for around $160 EACH.
So you do the maths :D
hey guys, i just got a quote for making a set of custom springs made up for $150 is that the normal price? seems really cheap
