I think I need to change my shocks

Hey guys,

I own a EM1 and I think my shocks needed to changed cause the ride is getting very uncomfortable.
How do I really know that it is my shocks or it could be something else.

If it is my shocks, how much would it cost to get replaced? I don't need any fancy ones, just standard ones will do.

is your car lowered? this could be the reason your shocks are stuffed. best go to pedders have them do there $14 test and then go somwhere else to have them replaced. thats if pedders tell you that they are stuffed.

yea go 2 a reputable sussy place get em 2 test it, they put ur car on a dyno looking thing n replicate ur car goin over bumps, they'l give u a readout that'l look like a squigly line but in a circle n basically if the line has big highs n lows in it ur shocky's are STUFFED, hope that helps

oh n i got a quote yesty 4 top line munro's ( not the best i know) they were 279 for the rear(pair) n 169 each 4 the front:)

i think im in a very similar situation as u & i bought my car to pedders about 3-4 wks ago and they did their $14 check.. and apparently everything was all good, nothing major..

but a wk ago, pornstar told me my rear shocks are most likely gone~

so yeh keep me up to date with your situation and if u do end up replacin them, i wanna know roughly how much

pedders is f*ckn bullsh*t, they wont gime warranty on shocks coz they say my car is to low...

pedders will be friendly, and then tell you u need to spend $$$$ four figures to fix the problem.

Yeah that’s why I said only have it TESTED there. Then have the work done somewhere else. The great thing about pedders is they have the shock dyno a lot of places don’t have that, I wouldn't touch anything pedders sell with a 10ft poll I just use there equipment.

I have had several problems with pedders in the past, the first time the wanted my mate to spend 1,500 replacing all bushes on his 2000 dollar toyota. That he used only several time a year, and got abusive when we said we only wanted it tested for the $14 to see it it was ok after hitting a curb.

The other thing was they couldnt even work out why my CRX had negative camber, hmmm its lowered :rolleyes:. And where trying to tell me the towers where bent, even thought they never measured them that was the explantion and they recomended I see a crash repairer. So I went to see a real suspension place!!! And with the aid of K-mac camber kit its all fixed.

As CTR coupe said u can uses pedders to test the suss to see the condition of every thing as they have the dyno, but then I would personaly go to someone else and get the work done!! :D

The ride doesn't seem all that smooth anymore. When I hit bumps the car rocks side to side making the it very uncomfortable at time, especially when going over pot holes. The whole car vibrants so badly even the dashboard shakes a little
