For starters, I own a 96 Civic VTI-R. Whilst i'm in, say... 5th gear and revs are only at about 2 thousand, when i step on the throttle, my car makes a soft noise that sounds like it's coming from the transmission.

This grinding, noise until the engine revs abit higher, then the noise goes away. This noise can be heard in most gears if the revs are low and then throttle must be pressed.

My clutch is in need of a change. Any chance that it has something to do with that? Anybody have any ideas?

could be one of a few things, thrust bearing, or the Input Shaft Bearing.

sounds to me like its pinging...not a good thing, just down shift a gear and you will be fine

I think I've got the same problem but it sounds like it's coming from the left of the car but the clutch is on the right. (Civic, EF9, B16a1)

When I get the money to change the clutch, does the bearing come with the clutch kit or do i need another part? It'll probably save me some money on labour if i get that fixed up when i get my clutch changed, right?

Once i get the finances together, i'll give you's an update. Thanks for the feedback!

any decent mechanic will change the thrust bearing with the clutch aslo the spigot bearing. if you get a clutch from Honda, ask for the bearings, same with other type of kits.
