anybody have an idea how much it would cost to do a auto to manual conversion on a Honda Civic VTi 4 door (98mod). I was thinking of just that standard manual gearbox the rest of the d16y motors came with. Anybody know roughly how much it would cost?
might be bit more expensive in your case. but I guy from our club in perth had an auto - manual conversion completed on his EG si for $1800 inclusive of parts and laybour. This included gearbox, pedal assebley and all that crap. Should be around about the same cost for you I assume. But it all depends on how new, and what condition D-series Gearbox you use.

hmm honestly, my brother just explained to me that it would be more cost effective to wait for an engine conversion (b16a) that includes all those parts. So I may as well wait.. and cope with my auto (arghhh frustration) hehe but it's a CVT so i can work from low gears up to Drive.. but I wonder could that have an adverse effect on my transmission..
hey...did u eva find out how much it would have cost ya?! i wanted to change too...but neva knew how much....heard roughy bout 1700-2000...but not sure...

 True
A front cut is a cheap way of gettin new engine/box etc
and the engine upgrade would be a good idea.
Converting to manual can mean your car will be off the road for a while, have you thought about this? All depends on what cluth/flywheel you wanna run and what power you're aiming for.
Personally i'd go for B16A front cut if I was you ;)

sorry to jump it like this but I was going to do the same thing for my car (B16A8 conversion) but found a better car that came with the B16 so now left with the complete conversion kit. If you are interested I can sell that to you. (Melb)

Have you thought about selling it and purchasing a manual one? Saves the car being off the road and a car that has a manual gearbox from factory will ofcourse be more reliable then those that are converted.
