ok i am a n00b :) particularly a manual n00b lol

but when i push in the clutch ... there is this kind of sqeak, sounds like a squeeky spring ...

it wasn't doing it before when i went out ... now it is ... any ideas?

Mitch - does this "squeak" associate with anything ? Shifting becomes harder ? easier? Its hard to define exact what you have ...it "sounds" like the clutch plate is on its way out , as the springs are getting weaker - but u should of found this out before u brought the car. . .If the noise starts to get louder , or starts to feel funny - take it to a mechanic to get checked out mate ;)

Here is a way to "test" clutch slippage -
drive along at about 30km/h in 3rd....then change into 5th - and floor the accelerator ...if the clutch is slipping , the revs will go up and u wont move . A healthy clutch will bog down and stall.

i will give that a go

how much for a performance clutch or whatever ... something stronger???

thx ben

i just went out and did that

all i fine, it was feeling alot better also

i was at 30km/h in 3rd, and dropped it into 5th and it became very bogged down ... however didn't stall ... this a bad sign?

Often people cant afford buying a new clutch just like that. Clutches may not cost much if you can afford that, but then you need to install it. Prices add up, and if you can avoid paying money for somethin that isn't broken its a good way of going about things :D

i aint paying for a new clutch until this one is gone ... i would rather f*ck this one up with my learning and then install a good, tough clutch when i am driving well :)

how much does a new clutch cost ... by itself ... i have someone who will install it for me for fkin cheap :D

Very bad advice given above, absolutly very bad.. There is no way a squeek comming from the pedal will have anything to do with the clutch plate. Its possible the throwout bearing could be faulty, but other problems would be felt like harsh engagement... If all gears engage without crunching then the pressue plate is fine. What u shoukld test out is the master cylinder at the very most, its probably just a squeeking joint in the pedal though! Does the clutch still have the same pressure it used to? DOes it fall to the ground, or loose height after clutching in and out? If thier any other problems other then this squeek?

ps. The way to test a slipping clutch is actually applying alot of load onto the pressure plate. ie going up a hill in a low gear.

Actually i have exacty the same problem, when you push and release teh clutch pedal, it makes a squeky/scratchy sort of sound

mine started doing it a while back, and is getting a bit worse.... it seems to be more when the car is going very slow/almost stopped

all gears are still feeling fine...might just be a wearing out clutch maybe?

im going to speak to a friend of mine and pull it apart over the next 2 weeks, will keep you posted

note - when i bought the car (18 months ago) the clutch master cylinder had a small leak, after getting it serviced by honda, they said it was nothing major, but i should keep a little eye on it

Now that u say that, his car is a real pain to engage gears, esp 2nd gear. fkin takes a real effort to change gears. i never realised til i drove back my car, that his was so hard, and also watchin him attempt to change gears he had to like fkin pull it pretty hard.

Does the clutch still have the same pressure it used to?
he wouldnt kno as he just bought the car 2 days ago.

the clutch isnt falling or losin height at all.

Not very bad advice. did i say its All because of a squeak ? I asked if anything else in relation to the squeak is noticable mate. I know because I recently blew my clutch in my eg Si , starting in a similar situation...began to sqeak , then the clutch plate let go and locked itself into gear. IE one way of basic testing a clutch is my way- or your way.

Mitch , take it to Hannys as others have said if it is worrying you, and just to make sure. Robert is a champ and will give the best advice ;)
