Hi everyone, im actually looking to buy either an accord euro OR a mazda 3. Yes i know they are both very different lol. Its my dads choices. Ive done alot of research on the mazda 3 and recently my dad just out of no where goes "i might want a honda accord euro now, so find out about them". And i must say i was quite excited as they are very nice cars.
But i dont have experiance in buyin new cars and never bought a honda before (currently own a camry). I know they are excellent cars. Im interested in the standard Accord Euro.
On the website it said the fuel type is Premium Unleaded, does this mean i cant use the normal unleaded? What is the fuel economy like? i want to know how much it uses per 100km during traffic/city conditions....anything under 10L/100km is fine (thats my camry economy).
Also how much has anyone been able to purchase the car for? The price i can get it for from the nearest honda dealer is $39,260 which includes stamp duty, rego etc etc. I would like to get the car down to $35,000 if its possible but i guess thats askin for too much. I dunno, anyone been able to get a better deal? if so how and where? thanks and sorry to bother you's

No it cant use Unleaded! Mazda 6 is the same. Really if you care about any new car you will put premium in it anyway. Yes it will use around 9.1 L/100km if u look at manual.
As for price run around and see what you can get. For a manual again, you should be looking at around 36700 onroad - so yeah 35K is reasonable.
Other than that search on here, there is heaps of threads about this stuff anyway!
Std Euro.... Auto or Manual?

sorry i forgot to mention i want standard euro thats automatic. so i cant use unleaded? whats the difference? isnt there a big price variation per litre for those two types?
how much you reckon i can get a standard auto down to? coz 39K is quite a fair bit

Welcome. In terms of price - please do a search. Whilst it is great to have new members - it gets frustrating when new members ask the same question - how much can I get the Euro for etc etc. It has been covered and you will find the answer you are looking for.
You need to use premium - there is a price difference in the fuel which could add to the running costs slightly. If you drive normally fuel consumption will be under 10l/100kms.

Dude its a 40K car, if you cant afford the fuel for it, its not the car for you! Servicing and all that ain't gonna be cheap either!

premium unleaded is always more expensive. if you use synergy 8000 (which is the premium unleaded from mobil), you'll pay 10c extra per litre. I'm not sure what's the difference between normal unleaded with synergy 6000 (95 ron, 8000 is 98 ron). You can use 95 ron for euro, as it's the minimum requirement, but for better power & fuel economy you can choose 98 ron. They are only a few cents different anyway. Using BP Ultimate (98 ron), I think the difference is 9c/litre compared to normal unleaded.

$39K is a bloody rip off for a standard euro automatic.
No way I'd pay that much. When I bought mine, I was offered $40.5K for my manual luxury euro and they also agreed to sell me standard one for $6K below the offer they made for luxury euro. For auto, you should expect to pay around $36K and no more, I think.
As for the fuel, it's very easy to take a look at service stations when you fill up to find out the price difference. Can't believe there are people who are no aware of the difference. hmm..
Generally, you'll pay around 5 cents more for 95 octane premium and another 4-5 cents on top of that for 98 octane petrol.
I always use 98 octane because the price difference is negligible anyway.

Euro is a good car. It is certainly a class higher than Maz 3. In terms of negociating price, get a friend with experience to go with you. Don't get intimidated by the sales rep. If they dont give you reasonable price, and give you nasty attitude, then they dont deserve your money. there's always other honda dealers around the town willing to sell you the car.

ok thanks for the help guys...i just wanna know...how much does it cost to maintain a honda accord euro, i hear its very expensive. Like servicing the car every 10,000km (or however much it is) will cost alot more than usual.

I am actually surprised how reasonable it is (hope my dealer is not reading this). All my services have been under $160 and I have had a service at 1,000, 10,000, 17,000 and 23,000. **note I bring my own oil though...

Once again, you heard the usual bullshit people who doesn't know anything say.
"Honda's are expensive to maintain etc.."
Admittedly, my old Honda Prelude was expensive when things broke probably because it was a very advanced car for its time. In addition, it was close to $60K brand new back then so...
Euros don't cost any more than any other japanese cars out there.
My 10,000km service was $117 from dealer, which is very reasonable considering even crappy places like K-Mart charge close to $100.

well im pretty satisfied with accord euro then. I want to get it for 35K though (with stamp duty etc) coz thats my budget. Just wondering if anyone has experianced ANY problems with the honda accord euro at all????
btw i want the colour black, but ive heard black is hard to maintain and it can get damaged easily by sun?? also i heard when car gets lil scratches its more easily seen? any of this true? if so anyway if protecting paint?
oh and the standard euro doesnt have fog lights....i guess i wont use em but they are really nice...how much would they cost to get?

Black is hard to keep clean mate, any dirt or blemish will showed up under the light.
Don't forget black comes with Ivory interior, they are a bitch keep clean too!!
35K driveaway is achievable if you bargain hard enough. Go to a few dealers & compare prices.
Good luck with the purchase!!!

Foglights go for around 500 by the time u get them and installed etc. I got mine as part of a deal so u can prolly even get them cheaper. Go in and offer them 35,000 with foglights, see what happens. However you only wanna do this when you are ready to buy. Unless you have the cash (or pen to sign) there and then, dont waste your or there time.

Same here 1000km so far and 5000km service all less then $160
Next is 10,000km not long to go so hope it will be around the same amount.

Ok yeah i can get the money for them easily thats not a problem. But how much has everyone purchase their accord euros (including tax stamp duty etc)?? and was it auto/manual , luxury/standard?
Also how much were they selling it for initially??
See the car is priced at $39,256 which is including rego stampduty etc. You reckon i can actually bring the car down to 35K or even less? i mean thats how much its worth without the whole stampduty etc etc.
I mean if i can bring it down any cheaper i certainly will try to, but i dont wanna give some crazy price that they will definitly reject....so whats the cheapest possible price that you reckon i could get it for?
If anyone could tell me how much they got it down by that would really help, thanks for your help.

bargaining/haggling is all part of the game and its quite fun at times
We purchased a 05 Euro Luxury not to long ago (only just picked it up on sunday), we spent a fair bit on time bargaining though. Ours is an auto btw.
Initial quote was $46 xxx (close to 47 000), that was the drive away price for the car
first we gave then a ridiculous number, like 40 000. Obviously that was rejected, since we wanted a auto for a price lower than a manual :p
saleslady said 43 500 but we said 41 000, couldnt get it for that price
so then we went up to 42000, the manager came out and said the best price he could sell it for would be 42 800.
So in the end we got an 05 Euro Luxury for $42 800, which is also included fitted floor mats, weather shield and premium plates. Also a golf umbrella was thrown in.
they give u different quotes depending on whether u are going to make a purchase on that day or not

Totally - as a salesman the best advice I can give you for a good price is be ready to buy. Don't go in an haggle without the cash coz if we dont take you seriously then you wont get the prices. And if you arent happy with the service, walk away. If you are then always give the salesman u spoke to first a chance to better the price.
To paraphrase - dont waste our time and we wont waste yours

My story is much the same...gotta have the dough first, otherwise you wont get very far...
Just ordered a 05 Euro, Arctic Blue Luxury Auto...was quoted $47,000 drive away...told the dealer to cut the crap coz I'd done my homework and he brought it down to $43,600.00. I then told him he could do better than that so he got the dealer principal in and got it down to $43,000.00 and said he could not go any further.
I then rang another dealer and asked if he could beat $43,000.00. He said that is a very good price but would go down to $42,800 for the sake of beating it and getting my business. Also had to get dealer principal to approve the price.
In the end, the guy who said $43K said he cant go lower, but will throw in floor matts, a full tank of gas, two honda hats, two honda keyrings and and honda jacket!!! And it is available on tuesday! So I went with him.
As it turned out, the other guy was trying to sell me an 04 built 05 Lux that's been on the lot for months! Lucky I went with the nice guy!
Then today I get a call from a friend in insurance who insures the Honda dealers in Melbourne. She passed my details on to a guy at another dealership who reckons he got have done it for $42,550!!! I dunno if he was spinning crap because I had already ordered it or he was legit, but word on the street is $43K driveaway for a Lux Auto is pretty good.
Basically, if they need to get approval from the Dealer Principle, you know its a decent price.

Hmm ok thanks for that, it really helps. What the plan would be is that me and my dad go in and bargain....i want to know how cheap i can get car for...ill say 35K max and im just thinkin if he does say OK to it, then how can i go to another dealer and tell him about the price? will i get the quote printed out?? i wanna show the other dealer the price i can get it for without him makin a call over there or anything...then compare and see which is better. How would i do this...my dad can pay easily within the day, but id like to go check the other dealer and see what i can get before i try.

They wont give u a quote. If you ask for one they will think ur not serious. Its totally a "I'll think about it".
Go to the dealer u like and who explained the car to you the best etc, get his price - ready to buy right now. If its too high, haggle. If its not, take it. You can always go to another dealer who will prolly beat it by 100 bucks, but this poor dude has spent all the time with you to make sure u know everything about the car. If you dont wanna spend money on service then buy a car off ebay :P
If you care this much about money, the car isnt for you. Deals are deals. Dont brag about the deal , brag about the car! You will look way classier then :)

Why don't you just say 35K and make it plain that you won't offer more and be done with it. Save you and him time. Otherwise you will be there for hours. You can buy mat/tint etc for less elsewhere.
Fr3aKi3
29-04-2005, 02:39 PM
i rekon there are 2 trains of thought
one is hav a set price n be firm with it, eg go in n say u want it for 35.5k
anything higher and u'll go elsewhere
or you can haggle (this is what we did since this was our first new car, and we wanted the whole experience)
starting off at 33k doesnt that that ridiculous to me, since our starting offer was 40k for an auto euro lux (rrp for manual is 40 800). In the end we got it for 42 800 (the rrp for the auto euro lux)
either way goodluck in gettin ur euro
i guess u can have the "whole experience" if u want LOL, but having bought a few cars before i'll rather just set a price i want to pay before i go. otherwise u will find yourself persuaded by the saleman to pay more than what u really want/should. Remember, these guys do that as a living and they do that everyday and therefore are much better than you and me.
So, way2quik, bought the car yet?

thanks for the help everyone...this sat my dad wil take it for a test drive hopefully...then within the week we will make a purchase (might not be till the end of next sat which really sux but oh well)...so ill let you guys know what happens. Ill prob say 33K and let them offer somethin else, and slowly bring it up 35K max, might push it to 35.5K....i was thinkin, is it important to get those plastic sheildings for the front part and for lights etc? And what kinda maintanance is required to look after a black car? i heard they can be quite difficult to maintain. and ive been in black cars before and after you leave it out in the sun it just becomes sooo hot inside the car and on the outside...i just cant belive that its ok to leave the car like that..
maybe silver is better option i dunno
way2quik
29-04-2005, 04:06 PM
one thing that i just cant belive is, if i can get it for 35K, then im basically gettin the car price they mention without the whole stamp duty rego etc etc....i find it hard to belive they would give it to me for that price.
So no one has experianced any problems with Accord Euro? drives smoothely and all?
my father has a black one. Looks great, when its clean. But what a bitch to care fir, gets swirl mark too. And becomes dusty after 1 day, even if its just sitting in the garage and not being driven! I personally wouldn't get a black one, even though its my favourite colour for accord euro. Unless u enjoy cleaning cars.
Fr3aKi3
29-04-2005, 04:51 PM
we managed to get our euro without stamp duty/taxes etc etc
so its not impossible
i think they'll be willing to sell for 35 500 if u say that ur gonna buy on the day.
ie, if ur willing to buy it there and then, 35 500 is a realistic price
but remember the rrp for the euro is 35 500, which doesnt incl the cost of the pearl/metallic paint (all euro colours are either pearl or metallic). So ur really looking at 35 800, that is already a pretty good pric ei rekon anything lower would just be a bonus
Euro drives very smoothly, hard to tell when it changes gears
The semi-auto mode is a lil laggy and its a lil jerky, but the jerkiness is probably coz i cant use it smoothly yet :p

Once you signed, you only have to pay the deposite, Dont pay full amount until the delivery of the car. (Unless you have too much cash at home sitting in suitcases).
If they dont have the colour you want, and try to push u of buying your 2nd preferred colour, then u know you have more room for negotiation.

Hi,
Since everyone is discussing their Euro purchase price, I think I might just chip in considering I know the prices quite well. A guy I knew bought a Euro Luxury $43500 driveaway with some accessories thrown in which I'm not sure what it is. There is also this guy who bought a Euro Standard Auto for $35300 driveawaway with floor mats, rear sensor and full tank of gas through a carbroker (www.carbroker.com.au) which he paid $30. Both of these two sale occur last month April.
Hope this information is useful.
