Will most prob be a blue-slip that they need so just go to a mechanic that can issue them (they will have the blue sign out front along with the red one for pink slips)
They should be able to help you out.

Just take your car to your local exhaust shop and ask him to do a DB test and explain to him what has happened show him the letter and he will help out.

besides its a honda (not bagging honda's they just arn't loud), so its probably NOT over the limit but you have annoying neighbours... I say test your engine with the exhaust off on your front lawn!

I had to take my car for a rego test & the exhaust was too loud. All I did was make a simple gasket and put it in between the axle back flanges.
I used a piece of sheet metal, drilled a one inch hole through it to reduce the amount of exhaust gas going through and it worked well. I passed the DB test which is 92DB here and without the gasket I made 109DB.
Just an Idea.

yeah thats the go:thumbsup:
but you could do several smaller holes rather than one bigger one to reduce the noise even more.

so example would be u got a 2.5" exhaust and u put a flange on it with 2.25" hole?

more like a 1.75" hole (LVNIT only had a 1" hole). you're not after flow or performance here whatso ever. its only temporary. and you want the flange as far back towards the cat as possible

Yea I had a one Inch hole. It drove 'ok' up until about 3500rpm and after that it was pretty bad.. But I passed rego at least :)
All you do is take the gasket out, draw around it onto a piece of steel, cut it out, drill a hole and bolt it in.

is that not effectively adding a silencer before the muffler tip? also reducing flow?
can this be taken out easily?

hmm would they accept a silencer fitted as being part of the system ?'
I've recently re-installed my silencer with some modifications (to stop the farty rattling) in an attempt to keep the boys in blue happy in the noisy exhaust respect..

some cops will still book you as the majority of silencers are just screw on (not welded) so they know u can and most likely will take it off

I'd like to know as well :D
92db is for older cars (and louder for older older)
and I thought it was 89 or 90 db for 2002 and above models.
Also, friends who had silencers were made to take it off during the db test @ EPA.
Best would be the gasket.
That's shit !!
I usually only drive with the silencer IN and for events and race take it out..
108Db and it passed ??? did the guy miss the "1" ??

You could have spent 1 dollar for a gasket :)
