my vtec engagement point seems to have dropped from 5500rpm to 4900rpm after i installed a short ram intake.
anyone know why the change is so dramatic ?

probably cos u took the stock airbox out and the heat from your engine bay is gettin in ya ram. *tip, put ya ram inside ya airbox and run cold air intake 2 ya box. more power dude.

the ECU you have engages VTEC at ~4800rpm
it is a first gen JDM PR3 ecu and this is where VTEC kicks ;)

re-install your old air intake,
hook a 12v lamp in parallel with a ground and the VTEC solenoid active wire and see when the solenoid activates...

well that explains everything lol although ive never heard of these ecu's.
i used to think it was engaging earlier but after reading everywhere that it was 5500 then i just believed that i was hearing things.

yep, only the 1st gen JDM B16A's kick in below 5000, the B16A2 and B16A3 crossover at about 5500ish
